A couple of points I think could clarify your great video. 1. In my experience, and what I’ve read from others, the durability of a synthetic jacket is usually dictated more by the insulation than the fabric. Synthetic insulations lose their loft through use, being compressed (don’t do it!), and laundering long before the fabric gives out (unless you’re bushwhacking through thorns frequently). The opposite is usually true of down. If you take proper care of down, it will retain it’s loft for decades - usually after the face fabric has worn out. I think your new insulation could provide the best of both. 2. What you are doing in your fill power versus fill weight comparison is basically calculating the volume of the insulation in each jacket. An easier way to estimate the warmth is to look at the loft of each jacket by laying them side-by-side and comparing how thick they are. Of course the ultimate test is to try both! I have compared jackets by standing outside in the cold until I shivered, and timing how long it took. Not very scientific, but as you said there is no standard for jacket temp ratings!

Always love learning from your videos 🙌🏼 I’ll be wearing out my LoftTek before getting another one, even though I’m super excited for the progress you guys have made. My hope is you’ll create an upgraded LoftTek so those of us that won’t buy animal products can still have something worthy of intense hikes ✌🏼

Your new jacket is sweet. Just deciding if I’m going to get a men’s jacket since it doesn’t come in blue in the women’s. I’m tall so the men’s may be better for sleeve length. Love all the details! I’m really glad it’s a 4 season jacket! Perfect jacket for my CDT next year.

Do you recommend sizing up in your stuff? Really been wanting to try some of your jackets but I see the main complaints are sizing a lot of people say it runs pretty small? Thanks

Pretty much reinforces my current understanding. It’s all a guesstimate. I believe the sleeping pad R numbers are just a random made up scale to offer comparisons so why not for jackets?

I tried on Jackets over the past year, they all seem to be a skinny fit. I have big shoulders and chest. OR, North Face, Patagonia all these jackets are made for bean poles. I'll give your jacket a look.

I’m similar, larger than average chest and back. I ordered a Nova UL and sized it using their online program. After entering the requested information a size large was suggested and that’s what I ordered. When I put it on I found it far too small in the chest and shoulders. I then ordered an XL hoping that it would fit well. (There are no exchanges, you return one and buy another.) There was NO perceptible difference in the sizes. I was still in possession of the first jacket, so I was able to try them on back-to-back. I even checked the labels thinking they sent me another size L by mistake. I suppose it’s possible the jacket is miss labeled but that goes to quality control. I thought about ordering a 2XL and/or another XL hoping the label was wrong, but there’s a $10 charge per return, meaning I could be out $30-$40 if none of them fit well. I wanted to like this product, but seems they have some work to do on their QC and sizing. The jacket is nice looking and would seem to be a good value if you can determine the proper size. I’ll be returning what I have and probably sticking with a brand I know, Patagonia.

I have a couple of puffs. One a mtn hardware, the other a Patagonia. I have no idea what their fill power, etc. etc., is. Bought these before I started backpacking and became conscious of such things. After watching this I feel that the mtn hardware is “sweater” and Patagonia, nothing on my tags, is more. Do I trust either in the elements, in snow, below 30 or 20? The pategonia I’ve worn in 20 degree temps, it’s a synthetic and seemed fine. With your products I’m intrigued, but don’t want to calculate everything. I’d like to just call, say this is what I’m wanting to do and you pick.

Great video as always. If I may suggest, dial down the volume of the music a bit. I’m interested in what you have to say, not the music.😎

Have the issues with your jackets been resolved? Leaking insulation, plastic bag noise from interior fabric, not cutting wind and underfilled? I like the concept of your products, however I'm hesitant based off of some honest reviews. I would prefer to buy from companies line OV instead of big box. Just need to be assured I'm spending wisely
