Thanks for this video, In September I did the AHA-BHA peel the night before meeting family at Disney Studios. I put sunscreen on the next day, my entire face ended up chemically burned and would not go away. I ended up seeing a dermatologist where he did a skin punch to send to a lab, and he gave me a medicated cream, and stop using everything. The burn marks slowly cleared up, but now I know why and how this happened. Thanks

I was absolutely terrified to use the peel even though I don't have remotely sensitive skin but I'm not sure why I was scared 😂 it's fine if you follow instructions. If I just leave it on for 10 minutes twice a week it's fine. I actually used my tretinoin the same night...no problems although I'm not risking that again.

I was using Good Molecules’ pure vitamin c powder and mixing it with hyaluronic acid before my sunscreen during the day, along with the peel (once a week at night) and it started making my dark spots darker. 🤣 I definitely learned my lesson. I still use it and love it, I just don’t use any other actives with it.

I’ve been told you always should moisturize skin, but my skin is so sensitive to moisturizers. No matter what type I use, I get acne. Liquids, gels, creams, those that are meant to last “24or 48 hours” or sunscreen give me acne. I have come to think that since my skin is never dry, what’s the point? My skin just winds up oily and then large cystic pimples show up. That those just over moisturize my skin and my skin just winds up hating me. What are your thoughts?
@TheSkinnyZ9 ай бұрын
Lol, I’m commenting at the beginning when Cass told us to, so here I go: Definitely not an expert here, but I myself combine no actives with the AHA/BHA-solution. If anything I put on inoffensive and/or calming products after. Meaning no additional acids, no retinoids, no vitamin c, but instead plain moisturizers.
@TheSkinnyZ9 ай бұрын
Guess I did quite good.

I’m a 30% TCA 6 times a year kind of bitch, I have rly resilient skin, so I go in with the peeling solution once a week for about an hour. I don’t even feel it and it really helps keep my skin prepped for my more intense chemical peels. I should also note that most people should NEVER do this! Not the weekly hour long peeling solution use, or bimonthly 30% tca. Either of those on its own is a LOT, both is basically impossible to work up to for a lot of people. I used to have horrible cystic acne so I have a lot of scars and pigment that I’m working on fixing so I’m going really hard at both with intensive chemical exfoliation. I also do a DMK alkaline wash every now and again. A lot of us who are derms and estis are way more intensive with treatments but that’s because we both know our skin incredibly well and have the medical knowledge to judge the risks to our skin better than other providers who only know what they see and what you tell them.

But no damage! Thankfully

I cannot use Ordinary's Alpha arbutin + HA after AHA + BHA. Don't know why - it seems ok in theory, but it iritates my skin, my face gets itchy and itchy red spots appear. I've never had similar reaction before and I've been using it for 2 years, once a week. I'll just keep using it with Niacinamide + Zinc and sometimes also Caffeine + EGCG, that works for me.

I've been using the peel from Paula's Choice instead of The Ordinary's for a while. I only buy it a couple times a year when it's on sale, but I really really like it. The Ordinary's peel stings my face for the first couple minutes, and Paula's Choice doesn't. I also don't have to use as much of the PC product because it's way easier to get even coverage than it is with TO. I do prefer the bright color of TO because it's easy to see any traces left behind after rinsing or transferred smudges to my neck/chest/hands that need to be cleaned, but otherwise PC wins.
