Thank you so much! I’m in the beginning stage of getting a lower All on Four (or Six). I’m having an oral maxillofacial doctor remove my lower teeth (what’s left of them…front four are already gone), and put in implants. My dentist is making the prosthetic. Thank you for mentioning that the thickness of the temporary is different from the permanent prosthetic. I talk for a living, so this should be fun (I’m semi-retired, and may have to fully retire; we’ll see). And the adventure begins.

I lost all of my molars to bile reflux after RNY gastric bypass 30 yrs ago...when it was a rare side effect and MDs mistreated me as having ACID reflux...total opposite treatment x 17 yrs. I had 6 root canals that all 'died' within a year. Im looking at having zygomatic implants along with 4s...so all-on-6. It's VERY costly and my remaining 9 uppers and 9 lowers are a bit yellow but otherwise secure. My #1 fear is the feel of these implants.

I sure wish you were practicing in the USA, Southern CA! I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and attention to detail. I have had dental issues all my life even though I brush and use mouthwash every day and often, twice as day. My teeth are a wreck. I’ve had to hide my smile, or not smile at all. Now I don’t attend social events, nor do I go out much. Really embarrassing. Here in the area I live, I’ve had some consultations and every single dentist I visited just wanted to up-sell and their attempt to sell implants was aggressive. It just left a bad feeling and I did not trust them.

Very enlightening but the example I was looking for is not there. Can you help Dr Gurs? My implantologist told me that due to the position of my lower jaw, he will have to thicken the implant denture by 1.5 centimetres which means that my tongue will have to rest further near the throat giving me a gagging feeling - he says it happens to a lot of people yet I can't find feedback on that on the internet. Are you familiar with this? It is very hard to imagine how to live with this feeling unless it is also possible to train the tongue to lay differently. I would need to hear from people who they dealt with it to decide if to go ahead.

Dr. Gurs, so are saying I will have that “bubbling” between my top arch and the bridge in my permanent ones too made out of zirconium? Being without any teeth for over 7 months has also caused my upper lip to get smaller, my bottom lip is ok. I have received most of my information from you, as dental schools don't take the time, because everything takes so long for them. And they don't seem to be that interested in pleasing the patient, because it's not there private practice that's online. Thank you so much on your expertise in this field. Gratefully, Debbie / Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Hello Dr.Gurs, I had my back teeth taken out and my front teeth are very erosed (very short). Different doctors tell me different things, including all-on4. Should I just get implants on back teeth and crowns on front? I don't want all my teeth removed, but full mouth reconstruction in US costs too much. Also I was told my bite is completely collspsed. After having the all on 4 surgery, with them putting in my 8 implants, when I woke up I had no gums to speak of, and they said they were unable to put the Temporary teething because my bones were too soft. They said I would have to go without teeth for about 3 months, till everything healed better. It was 7 months before I got my temporarily. Just last week, June 23, 2022. I have that quivering of my upper lip you talked about in one of your videos. Also I only have 10 teeth on top and 10 teeth on the bottom. It almost feels like partials instead of a full set of teeth. Is this normal for them to only give me 10 teeth per arch? Because I had this all done at a dental school ( IU Dental School, in Indianapolis, Indiana USA), I work with different Drs each time I'm there. Plus my left side of my lip is almost numb. I can barely feel anything I'm that side but just a small sensation. I've repeatedly told them of this issue, but they seem unconcerned about it. I'm thinking there might be some Nerve Damage there.. If I was your patient, would Any of this concern you, being a specialist in your field like you are? They say I have to wear these a month, then they will send them back to the lab who made them, will be without any teeth again for about a month, till my permanent ones are done with Zirconiaum. Any feedback would be so much appreciated. Gratefully, Debbie.

Does your brain think of it as a foreign object since you have no nerves to actually feel sensory receptors? Bc I can see how someone would freak out having to deal with that constantly. Hi Dr. Gurs, I have heard that implants get gum recession and bone loss around them over time. I am thinking about getting some , but being just 20 y.o means that by 40 all my bone and gums would be gone. That would be too much embarrassing. How am I supposed to handle problems like this ?
@drgurssehmi4 жыл бұрын
Yes, implants can get recession and gum disease, like teeth. This is why we like to delay this treatment for as long as possible. Sometimes this is not possible, but I would encourage you to look at all of your options, including trying to keep the teeth you can, and maybe just implants to replace the completely missing teeth. If you have to have implants, then it's going to be a case of keeping them as clean as possible, and regular X rays.

I do not leave the house and haven't done for almost 14 yrs, I hate how I look and it got so bad my marriage broke down after my husband who was 7yrs older than me was told "it's so nice of you to bring your Mum out shopping she looks good for an 80yr old," I was 44 at the time !!! I am now 55 and my life has been non-existent for all these years the only place I go is my hospital appointments and pharmacy. I believe I am the only person that was thrilled when we had to wear face masks, that they gave me the ability to talk and smile and laugh without fear of anyone seeing me without a tooth in my head.
