Elbow to the ribs isn't a brand new idea, but having it blessed by Albert makes it even more important to learn. And never heard a bad thing about him as a person. Class act.

@@asc8048 To be fair, I don't think we should be married to the idea that good hitters can't give bad advice. Not saying everything he says is wrong, but there have been hitters that provided advice that just either isn't good, or it isn't effective for everyone (A Rod is another good example, great hitter but his advice doesn't even align with how he swings).

@@nesssixteen6106When it comes to baseball in general, but specifically hitting, certain things will work for people and certain things won't. There's not many blanket statements you can say, or drills you can recommend, that will work for absolutely every hitter. A-Rod and Albert Pujols don't give "bad" advice, nor are they "wrong." They tell people what they focused on and what worked for them. At the 12:40 mark of this clip Albert literally explains that everyone has their own way of getting themselves to hit.

Says knob to the ball and pushes his hands across, then immediately demonstrate tucking the elbow and turning the knob up and supinating the wrist as how he swung. It's wild how these great hitters don't even realize the key in what they did.

Mark de Rosa needs to stop interrupting people. Let the person that has great success speak!!!! You brought Albert on the show let him talk. That’s why he called you out and said you got to the ballpark late at 3pm for a 7 pm game vs Albert showing up at 1pm. That’s difference between great and average at best. Come early stay late

Good eyesight and getting yourself in a comfortable, athletic stance with good balance with eyes focused and level. You can pretty much forget everything else they teach batters. Connect your eyes to your body and you will be successful. Watch Ted William's, Ken Griffey Jr, Miguel Cabrera, Albert Pujols, etc. See what they all share, excellent balance, head and eyes in perfect position to SEE THE BASEBALL. See ball, hit ball. Simple concept yet so difficult to perfect.

The problem with pro athletes is they often don't recognize that what the think they are doing when they are successful and what they really are doing are two different things. Here he talks about knob to the baseball. Slow down his video and see how many homers were hit with the knob to the baseball. None. When he hit successfully he had a rearward snap of the bat getting his bat in the SAME PLANE AS THE PITCH. Its nearly impossible to hit a baseball 400 feet with a downward trajectory of the bat against a downward trajectory of the pitch. This is just basic physics. And anyone who actually puts backspin on a baseball while hitting got luck enough to hit the small piece of the ball superior to the seem creating a leverage point to increase backspin. The surface of a baseball is mostly smooth leather surfaces. Ever tried to throw a good curveball without the seems? Doesnt work too well.
