Love your sound effects. "Do do do do" as your zipper foot glides along. 🙂 Such an informative tutorial. Thanks so much!

Not only can you change the zipper pull tab for a pop of color, you can also create a multi-colored zipper tape. For example, take two identical-style zippers, each one a different color. Let’s say red and blue. Cut the end tabs off and separate the zipper tapes. Take the left side of the red and the right side of the blue, and then attach a zipper pull tab.

I always feel like my zipper foot lets me careen all over the project! I just don't feel like I have as much control with it as I do with the standard foot. But I'll keep trying!

Vanessa, this was helpful. Thank you. Can you do a part 2 that talks about measuring length before and after adding a zip tab on both ends? I never seem to measure correctly and it is easy to make it too long or too short when ibstalling.

Been following you since your very early beginning and you still manage to teach me something, I ended up buying a ski zipper foot as it was easy to sew with as it is not as wide at the top, but never realized that you can ride the foot on top of the zip coil! Amazing, been sewing for more than 50 years... Never too old to learn new tricks! Thank you for this great video.

I have a question, Is there a difference in each side of the zipper teeth. I tied to do a project and she only used one side of the zipper, but I couldn't ever get the zipper pull to work on both sides. It seem so easy for her but it never worked for me. Is that a special type of zipper? She never said one way or the other. The viedo was called Itty Bitty Bags Sew to Sell Tiny Coin Purse Key Holder Table Tennis Balls Jelly Roll Binding Scraps. Please help me understand. I love your instructions in Viedos, they are precise and I can follow well. I wish others would give more details..

How do you put the stop you just cut off back on the zipper?
@TheCraftyGemini
@TheCraftyGemini 2 жыл бұрын
You don’t. You either sew up the cut end in a seam or sew back and forth several times over the zipper teeth to create a “stop” made of thread build up. Hope that helps!
@fredawade9115

You put a tab on that end, or you can put a tab on both ends. Vanessa had a video on installing tabs in her library. I’ve made a ton of them, matching them to totes and/or hand bags.

@@fionamackenzie3905 you’re welcome, I watched a video on how to replace a zipper in a coat and she showed that a lot of times the pull is all that’s broken. Downtown tailoring is the channel.

...and do not buy a huge supply of cheap zippers! Experience speaking:/. So many of my little triad pouches and some tote bags now have zippers that won’t stay zipped. Many of those embarrassingly were gifts. 🥴

The company from which I ordered my faulty zippers was not the same as the one Crafty Gemini uses. I’m probably going to try hers soon.
@MariesScrappyCreations
@MariesScrappyCreations 2 жыл бұрын
@Tori Rochleau-Rice I agree. I’m not saying that they are the best, but I haven’t had issues with them. I bought cheap zippers in bulk and I have a zippered bag made with one that I open at least 3 to 5 times a day and the bag is six years old. The only part that I’ve had trouble with is the zipper pull fell off last winter. If I were making a heavy duty tote bag or something similar, I’d probably spend extra fora “good” zipper.
