3 Tips for Young Soccer Goalkeepers

Today, we will be giving you 3 tips for young soccer goalkeepers.
The first one is to learn how to cover your angles properly. Unfortunately, many goalkeepers play too deep into their net. A better way to block incoming soccer balls, would be to come out a little bit further out the net, to cover as much angles as possible to prevent the forwards from scoring a goal.
This tactic is excellent to help you block much more of that big net. However, you need to be careful about the chip shots, meaning when the ball goes over your head into the net. If you're advanced far enough and the forward makes this move, you'll need to get back into your net very quickly to make the save.
The second tip is know how to properly cover a corner kick. This is a very important soccer tip, than can help you and your team win more matches.
Corner kicks, happen very often in a game and you want to be able to remove the risk of the opposing team to score a goal. You want to catch the ball in the goal area to prevent forwards form scoring. If for any reasons you cannot catch the ball, you can punch it away, out the goal area.
The third and last tip for young soccer goalkeepers is to learn how to not hesitate when the ball or a player comes to you with a chance at goal. If you're sure that you can get to the ball quicker than the opposite teams players, you need to take that chance and attack that ball.
If you have that chance, you run very quickly towards the incoming ball and you kick it far away in the center of the field so that it's not a danger anymore. If you can freeze the ball, then that is a great option as well.

Another tip for goal keepers (every goalie probably already knows this) but keep your eyes on the ball after I started focusing on the ball I blocked 75 percent of my shots.

This is a good video tip-wise. I see a lot of people commenting on the technique, and I hate to be one of these people, but I agree. 1. It looks like one of the reasons you aren't catching the ball is because a lot of times you're catching on the lower half of the ball. If you got your hands on the upper half, it wouldn't go all over the place. Granted, sometimes there are balls you won't be able to catch, but there's still a good amount that could be caught. You also look like you want to just push it away from the goal instead of catch it. Sure, a corner is better than a goal, but curveballs aren't the easiest thing to get, along with headers. 2. On diving, you seem to be jumping into the air and twisting so you land on your stomach. It looks VERY painful, especially when you take the grunting into consideration... And you also seem to be falling like a tree. When I say that, I mean that you don't really take a step, or just do a stutter step kinda thing, and just fall to the ground. This doesn't let you get as much distance as you may need. Once again, good video tip-wise, but I think that, with a little effort, there are some things that could be fixed so you don't hurt yourself or make too big of a mistake. I'm sure there's probably more I'm missing. After all, I'm not really too experienced as I've only been doing training for about a year and a half, but those are just some things I noticed right away. Comment if I have any information wrong.

I disagree with standing in the centre of the goal for corners. I train my keepers to be about two thirds of the way towards the back post. Why, because it's easier and quicker to run forward (if needed) than back-peddle.

When he says " it doesn't matter if it slips through your hands " well it does as a striker can still score of it falls to them and they can still pressure you from the corner. My advice is to hold on to the ball whenever possible but if you must party the shot, try to direct the ball away from the goal but to the direction you are diving. For example, if you dive to your left, parry it to the left and towards the corner flag as it decreases the chance of a rebound shot and releases pressure and allowed time for the team to defend. Being a goalkeeper is indeed a stressful position to play, because you're often the last resort for your team on the defensive side. However, this soccer position comes with plenty of positive aspects. Remember that you can't stop all the balls from going in the net and you're human after all. “the more you go out the more angle you cover”, somewhat true but mostly wrong, this can help in 1 on 1 situations but he never specifically say that and the shots that he saved are normal long shots, if you are in a game you don’t go that far from the net to save long shots, the more you go out the less time you have to react and if you face a powerful shot from there you’re done and you have to remember that football isn’t just 1 on 1, what if the player pass the ball to another player while you’re that far from the net, simple tap in

Ngl this guy is horrible at keeper he has the right stuff with covering the angles his corners are pretty bad if you play high level stay at a 45 so you have a quick turn to the middle and a shuffle to the middle of the goal or you can get forward if it’s short I would say stay a bit higher than middle of six box never go for the ball if it’s like middle of the pack unless you can beat the person there and punch before they get a head since that isn’t a catch situation also with you knee on corners/cross make sure you are putting up the knee that blocks off the attacker not the one your most comfortable with otherwise if they hit the wrong side leg you are going to lose the ball and get scored on bc you will prolly twist around

But either he is not a keeper and can’t appreciate the technical difference between him and any decent level goalkeeper or he is not good enough in his position and should not be teaching

I’m not trying to sound like I’m hating or anything but you have the knowledge but you have very bad bad technique and don’t apply the things you say. If young goalkeepers do what you do they’ll never be good. I’m sorry but someone had to point it out. Keep working mate and improve your handling technique, your foot work, your landing and you’re positioning.

Yo nice video just try not to land on your stomach as that can hurt a lot like I got badly injured cause of that nearly put my shoulder out and hurt rib a bit cause of it. Also keep training hard and don’t give up. Also I am 12 and play u14 and got told I am better than the majority of high age rep teams keepers. If u want any tips just ask (wasn’t trying to critiques in a mean way btw)

Try and look at his stance or the way he is looking, if he is looking one side it is more likely he will go the opposite side of the goal to try and trick you I have saved plenty of penalties from doing this
