Your a life saver. I got a auto k pin release, and i couldn't get it to unhook to save my life just now. But a good settling of da truck and a reverse bumb did the trick

We lock the trailer brakes First, then truck in reverse, put pressure against the trailer, then set the truck brakes. That takes the pressure off the pin and it releases for us every time. We do Not drop the suspension until the pin is unlocked and we are ready to move forward out from under it. Also, when parking the truck and trailer, don't set the trailer legs until ready to pull away from the trailer. We parked one at a lumber yard after hours, a night custodian came out and set the trailer legs and disconnected the hoses and electrical to the trailer. His intentions were good, thinking all we had to do in the morning was drive out from under it. PROBLEM was.,... Overnight the truck airbags slowly lose pressure and it drops down, but the trailer legs wouldn't allow it, so it pulled the opposite and unsupported angle on the locking pin and broke it. In the morning the truck was disconnected nicely, but we had to drive to the nearest repair shop for New fifth wheel parts. Hopefully this saves someone else the same grief.

I have cursed and screamed and even cried from Anger! It's a serious pain in the ass climbing under that dirty ass trailer trying not to hit your head and for the handle to not pull, then to to keep doing it over and over that's my own personal definition of HELL! 🔥👹🔥smh

You can buy a fifth wheel pull handle tool so you don't have to reach under the trailer.

Here is the quick, Safe and Simple way to allow an easy hand-pull release of your 5th Wheel Release Handle: ( it works Every time ) 1. while inside of your truck, - Set your Trailer Brakes and let the trailer settle for a quick moment. 2. put your truck in Reverse and apply just a little backward pressure on the trailer - and while applying this reverse backward pressure - Set your Tractor Brakes. (then take your truck out of gear / put truck in Neutral) --> now the 5th wheel release handle will pull open by hand - Every time you do this method ... some 5th wheel release mechanisms have stronger springs than others and are therefore harder to pull. (5th wheel metal puller bars will help on release handles that are further in, and help on stronger-springed 5th wheel release mechanisms) * This method will save you time because you won't have to wrestle & strain - just to release the 5th wheel / kingpin.
