I picked up the CBT nuggets subscription and it’s awesome! I’m using it along with the Wendell Odom books and packet tracer. I got a bachelors degree in IT in 2012 and so I have hands on experience with Cisco routers and switches but I never pursued the CCNA. I’ve been working for a school district as an entry tech for 6 years but CCNA will hopefully help me to advance my career.

So you used CBT nuggets? What else did you use?

@@blueshanks1 I used a variety of content. I was a cheapskate so I mainly used free content or paid stuff that was cheap. For youtube videos I used Keith Barker, PowerCert Animated Videos, danscourses, Illimitable Internetworking - International, CertBros and David Bombal ---- All of these channels have strengths and weaknesses in how and what content they bring to the table. The main weakness of learning the CCNA from youtube is I found that while there is a wealth of great content, almost none of the channels cover every single chapter of what is on the CCNA. Even Keith Barker admits in one of his videos he wouldn't be covering every little bit (I think he says something like he wouldn't do content on cable types etc). So don't rely solely on KZbin videos as your study source because you'll definitely have gaps in your knowledge. For reading, I'd recommend getting the official CCNA 200-301 Study Guides. You can't go wrong with those because it talks about everything on the exam. Use those books as your main source and supplement the reading with videos - Keith Barker does an excellent job of breaking down some of the more difficult to understand concepts. Sometimes it's hard to wrap your head around things just by reading it. There is also an official CCNA 200-301 command guide that dives specifically into the CLI on all topics, not necessary but certainly was helpful. Finally, the thing that helped a lot was purchasing practise tests. I'm pretty nervous about exams and spending a lot of time on practise tests really helped a lot. I passed the exam on my first try and I reckon if I didn't invest time into practise tests I could easily see myself failing the CCNA once or twice.

Some of the topics can be confusing! Don't give up, personally getting into the labs sparked something within me. Hearing someone talk about a subject is SO different from configuring things in a labs, its almost beautiful. Keep with it my friend!

I worked at dead end jobs till august 2019 thinking I was way too stupid to understand complex topics. I couldn't even focus for 30 minutes because of how frustrated I was with understanding a topic . Just remember that the small seemingly insignificant daily choices are what matter . start with 30 minutes a day then move up to an hour a day a week later. !! I got my A+,net +, and now taking the exam in CCNA. If I can do it so can you !!! .
