Thanks for a good video. I have a Garmin GPS just for long highway drives so I dont miss turnoffs or to find an address -- but i dont NEED it. I use maps, compasses, books, charts, marine sextant, celestial navigation, all analog things. Its work to learn, work to carry, work to practice but the work will save your life. Ive had a compass in my pocket for at least 50 years. Wherever I go, a compass goes. I like all those youre showing.

I have put the Suunto by my Military issued (New) Compass and you would be Amazed by it's accuracy! Since I found out about the Suunto, I've never Not had one on my watch!

Good Video, Good Gear. FYI: For those who wear Jeans on a regular basis, the little pocket above the right hand front was originally designed to carry old fashioned pocket watches. You can EASILY put one of those Compasses in there for EDC. Hope this helps.

I was going to purchase the suunto compass a few months ago but decided against it. I researched the Suunto compass and many reviews said it fell out of its clipper carrier body and got lost. No compass when you need it is not cool. Hopefully that issue has been addressed.

It still comes apart. I just had it a few days and just regular wear no hard use. The body was still on my watch band. Luckily I found the capsule and then the degree ring later at different days. Three pieces total and it assembled back again. Also the compass sometimes sticks and I have to tap it to get it to lock on to North at times. A cheap button compass I also have doesnt do that.

As to a full bore, full feature larger compass- I recommend​ the Brunton. Eclipse 8099. It is full featured, comes with a comprehensive instruction manual, nice lanyard, and a small set of very good skill/survival cards that are kept with the compass using a supple rubber boot that also protects the compass. I carry mine in an old Vietnam era ALICE style first aid pouch- fits perfectly. Definitely killer gear! Whoops! after checking on price it appears the 8099 has been replaced by the TruArc 20 by Brunton that seems to have comprable features. Sorry...

Hey Aaron, just a quick question on the Brunton glow in the dark compass, which side of the needle is supposed to point North? Black or white? I assume black but just want to be sure. I bought one and White pointed north. So I replaced it and the next one had Black pointing north.

I have a brunton tru arc 3 and a 9077 brunton makes a good compass I'm still in the learning process but I can always check with my etrex30 gps
