I realized every time my gf got drunk is when she would distance her self from me and cut things off alcohol definitely affects relationships

I've been having problems with my gf . Everytime she drinks she's another person . When she's sober she's the greatest person in the world 🌎. When she drinks she talks down on me belittles me and my kids pointing out all our imperfections but her and her children are perfect. I don't fight with her until she enters my personal space . It's a bad situation I love her but it's affecting how I look at her now . Almost a Jeckle and Hyde personality which is sad. I pray 🙏 🤲 we can get over this but she has to take the steps. She's not a everyday drinker she drinks at least once a month but when she does she doesn't know how to stop . She can just catch a good buzz and stop . She just keeps drinking until all her hate and insecurities come out which is overboard. I don't know what to do.

When you drink you will eventually lose control of your emotions indeed you’ve lost control on your mind itself. So, you will say and do things that you would never do clean. You become like a ship captain who has abandoned the wheel.

Getting alcohol free and watching my partner continue on and even getting worse. It's a bit scary. I'm not going back but we are together and it doesnt matter to him that I'm done with the lifestyle. Shows you how selfish it is. Nothing I do or say will stop him so .....all I can do is continue and pray and set an example..

My fiancé and partner of 13 years cheated on me while on vacation in Amsterdam. He was on a drinking bender and went to the red light district. He told me he was in a shame spiral and hated himself. Then he broke up with me and said, I didn’t deserve it and it was all his fault. He couldn’t look at me and avoided me. He wouldn’t get help or try. It broke my heart and I kept telling him this isn’t you. But he gave up.

3 days sober today, for the second time. I finally did the first step, accepted my powerlessness over drinking and surrendered. Yesterday, at 2 days sober, my partner asked me to move. I am devastated beyond words. I’m in shock. I want to show him, with him by my side, that I mean it. I’m not battling like I was before. The thought of “maybe I can drink like other people” is gone now.

I hope all works out for you. Sometimes, the push we need comes from outside ourselves. The problem is always stepping over the line and maintaining the motivation long term. It is a wonderful life when you don't have any addictions holding you back.
