3 Trains in a short time just outside of Atlanta, Georgia at Mableton. A Norfolk Southern intermodal double stack train had to wait for a locomotive power move. Shortly after that, a mixed freight passes this level railway crossing. Check out the signals and the awesome crossing. This was my first visit here. I was returning from Florida on June 13, 2018 in the evening. Thanks for watching! Please comment, rate and Subscribe To JawTooth!!

Wow.. You have a knack for coming across the most unusual stuff.. I envy you.. That GP38-2 on that intermodal train is truly a rarity.. I've watched hundreds of videos of this line and NEVER before even seen a 38 series engine much less leading!! Good stuff.. Also, that particular intermodal is probably going to Whitaker Yard in Austell (i'm sure it is).. On a last note, I was so glad that you gave an all around look at the area.. Nobody else has ever done that and it drives me crazy.. You also got lucky with the weather, back around December/January ATL was plagued with seemingly endless cloudy and gloomy skies with rain.. Kinda like where I am now! IT's been a while since I was in ATL and unfortunately didn't know about that particular spot when I was there but when I finally railfan that area, I'll be shooting from that concrete platform so long as it's not off limits.. Thumbs up BTW.

@@JawTooth Me and my Dad used to go there and watch trains when I was little. Still remember watching E-units( Passenger and freight) and EMD units running LHF young in both directions. If your ever down that way again go to Austell just west of there. There's a small rail park to watch trains going north towards Chattanooga or west to Birmingham

Hi JT, you’ve had a close haircut they are not calling you up for the Army Reservist? Another great video, cannot understand why they kept the train that was coming up the gradient with a large load for so long and let the three train one go on its way. I do like the double stacked freight trains they are awesome. Good to see three trains in the same day. When are you going back home? All the very best Martin🇬🇧

I'm guessing this to be Norfolk Southern's Atlanta to Birmingham line. I hear that line stays busy. I think AmTrak commuter trains run on this line and on the Atlanta to Greenville Norfolk Southern line too. Both lines connect near Brookwood split above Midtown Atlanta.
@DavidBrown-cs1tq
@DavidBrown-cs1tq 3 жыл бұрын
It is the main line out of Atlanta going west then splits in Austell with one line going north to Chattanooga and the other towards Birmingham. Just outside of Austell on the Chattanooga line is a NS intermodal yard ,to answer your question about the crescent it runs from NYC to New Orleans twice daily through there with a stop.in Atlanta

Does anybody know exactly how the crossing gates work? Specifically Norfolk Southern is approaching the gate at about 2 miles an hour and my understanding is the gates go down about 20 seconds before the train gets there so it's obviously speed dependent the train stops . the gates go back up. train starts again Gates go back down. Are they mechanically vibration sensor r electrical signal? what actually triggers the gates to go down.?
