Only certain aspects. His attitude towards life resulted in him ultimately being alone and isolated. Many did not love him, inly feared him, even his own family. I would only look up to Michael from the attitude of business and not in relationships. His lack of empathy for others is not something to emulate.

Vito is (though obviously not for the crime side), the 3 movies are about Michael trying to live up to his father despite never being meant for the role. Even though he succeeded from a business standpoint, he failed as a man. That's the difference between the two
@60wwediva

@@TheRealHerbaSchmurbaApolloina and the Italians loved Michael. His true love Apolloina was killed and he made the mistake of not keeping Apolloina on his side, on his arm, on a leash to watch her every move like he did with kate even before he got involved with the family business. Kate was ALWAYS on his arm or in front of him or walking by his side or held close. He very rarely let kay be in large range distance from him until the shooting with vito happened. With Apolloina, he made the mistake of letting her play in the car and not paying attention to her instead of keeping her by his side the whole time. But he would've died if that happened possibly. He needed a traditional, demure, quiet, soft and country girl who was happy just to be married and cared for who would willingly give him tons of kids & mind her business on the mafia side and tend to the family. Kay is a typical loud, nosy, entitled, dramatic and restless blonde white woman who would stay in a crazy situation but give the man hell for it and punish him then make a dramatic scene like she cant start over and go elsewhere. In the last movie she clearly started over and remarried. She could've left him after the first movie.

@@samuelzins5089He didnt fail as a man. Vito didnt marry or date a nagging white woman who overinflated the danger and drama of the family to get on his nerves 24/7 and put him through a surprise abortion etc. Vito didnt have a hot headed brother, a weak sister and a doormat brother who fucked things up. Michael grew up and had to manage a group of unruly people. We saw Vitos youth. He was mostly calling scores in the town and making hits relatively peacefully. We dont see his romantic interests either. Vito has had an easier ride than Michael.

Thank you for this very nice and well researched short film. As a Sicilian man of 60 years of age, with two heart conditions and prostate issues, it is vital to never show weakness, especially when working to outmaneuver a corrupt employer and manipulative co-workers in a highly toxic work environment. But so far I think I'm ahead of the game. I'm completely debt-free, with a sizeable savings, and live a fairly stress-free, drama-free life, aside from my aforementioned health limitations. If my plan succeeds, I'll retire in two years and finally be able to fully enjoy the peace and tranquil solitude that has always been my goal. I'm in the midst of the end game now, and Michael's attributes are always on my mind. Yes, the Godfather (novel and films) are a perfect template for establishing oneself in life. As is mastering the strategy of chess. Always think 5 steps ahead of your enemy! That's my motto. The beauty of that is, if and when you make a mistake, you're still far enough ahead of your enemy that he is still unable to achieve victory. It is my hope that everyone who reads this comment achieves a successful and fulfilling life.

@@JimChap It's idiotic to think that there are any good sociopaths to model yourself after. Only the ignorant struggle with that concept. It really is that simple. The number one trait any real man should implement is knowing how to attract women. Humanity does not continue if men can't attract women. Every single woman I know will reject any man who implements the traits of the wife beater Michael Corleone. Men who admit to modelling themselves after Michael Corleone, or any sociopath, are admitting that they do not know how to attract women. That makes those men useless for the future of humanity.

Killing Fredo is a bad example, it basically destroyed what was left of the humanity in Michael. There was no real reason to do so, Fredo is shown to be an older broken man at this point, that just wants to fish and spend time with his nephew. Like Hagen said, „do you really want to kill everyone?“ Vito was able to forgive people that’s why he was not only feared but loved.
@Never_Give_Up_88
@Never_Give_Up_88 Ай бұрын
It's a difference forgiving a stranger who tried to kill because you know it's apart of the game but when someone in your family does it and the reason why they did it is because of jealousy which means there is hate towards you and that person won't stop trying to kill you until you kill them first or they get you. And the only reason why Fredo couldn't finish the job is because Michael stripped him of his power by letting everyone know it was him who tired to kill me, so no one didn't want to deal with Fredo. And at the end, Fredo killing was personal not business.

The video's perspective completely misses the lesson that we are taught through the Godfather series. That by acting through pure calculation with absolutely no regard to emotion, you are destined for a life of unhappiness and torment. This is ultimately what happens to Michael, through killing his brother, and you could argue, his daughter. This theme is the strongest theme that runs through the Godfather series. Did Michael make the correct choices or, although the choices he made were horrendous and caused him to have a life or misery, were they actually the best choices he could have made? Michael believed that he could transform the family business into something non corrupt and "legitimate", although, he would have to use extreme levels of corruption and non legitimacy to achieve it. This is goes completely against one of the three universal laws: 'What you put out, is what you get back'. Michael would say "What choice did I have? I loved my Father dearly" and this is true in a way, he had to take action. But was it the correct action to take? It always comes back to this question. Could there have been another way that he could have transformed things, or was he destined to take these actions? Without a doubt, Michael feels that the main role he plays in the family is not as the family leader, but the one that has to absorb all the horrors and pain, so that the rest of the family can live in peace and harmony. This is why the ending of the story is so brilliant, and I believe Al Pacino's acting, portrays Michael's anguish stunningly well. For it is not just the fact that he has just witnessed his daughter's murdered. It's that it was all for nothing. All the acts of horror that he had committed, that he believed were acts of personal sacrifice, to protect the ones he loved, didn't actually do that. In the end, he is alone, with these thoughts rolling over and over in his mind. Did he make the right choices? Was there another way? What else could he have done? Was this all destiny? And us, the viewer, are also left mirroring these thoughts. We are also left wondering. What is the correct thing to do when faced with such situations?
@coorsgold
@coorsgold 2 күн бұрын
Whether you meant for it to be or not, this is one of the best analyses of the Part III movie I've ever read... Often seen as the movie "least liked" out of the three, but is arguably the most cathartic - and portrays a story of an attempt at redemption for the unbearable weight of difficult/painful choices made in such a complex web of business versus family decisions.
@Tripl3Thr33Productions
@Tripl3Thr33Productions Күн бұрын
@@coorsgold I think that many people were disappointed with it, not just because of the acting, but also because people wanted another gangster movie, which it is not. Personally, I'd say it's probably my favourite of the three movies because it gives the answer to the previous movies. The entire Godfather series is basically a tale about a genuinely good man, that decides to plunge into darkness, intending that it will only be temporary and he can then return to being his true "good" self again. We the viewer, get to watch this play out and judge if this is actually possible and what the outcomes will be. One of the themes that comes out of this, is the question, Is Michael actually a monster, or is he just a good person, forced to make those choices? He definitely carried out these monstrous acts , not thinking that it mattered to his own integrity and his own morality, because he believes that the true Michael, is the Michael that we see at the very beginning of Part 1. That's who Michael feels that he is, even when he is committing the terrible acts we see in Part 2. He feels that he was forced into acting in a manner that he doesn't want to, and although I disagree that he was forced, I would agree, that he doesn't want to. We see that in part 3 when he is getting older and is starting to naturally resort back to his true self. But one thing that I believe that Michael got completely wrong is that he felt that he would be able to carry out those acts, and that he would be able to purify the family from it. The video commends Michael for acting in a calculating and non emotional way, although we see in part 3 that the emotions, that he has pushed down, haunt him and are eating away at him from the inside out. He carries the burden of all those acts he committed and he definitely feels that it is justified. That is, until his daughter is murdered. And so, we have to go back to the original question and ask ourselves this...If Michael had made different choices, and it resulted in some of the family being killed and the families wealth being lost, would the final outcome have been worse? He even said it himself, something along the lines of "Nothing matters more than children, no amount of money in the world". And so, if he was to make different choices, would his brother still be alive? Would his daughter still be alive? Would he and Kate still be in a loving relationship and would he still have a relationship with his son? Who knows. But my personal opinion, is that Michael is extremely intelligent and I believe that he could have found another way to do things. It's not to say that it would have all been roses and rainbows, but it would have stopped him from transforming into a true monster. This is another great lesson that the story teaches us....be considerate of the life choices you make, especially when you believe that you have no other choice.

@@erwinquiachon8054hes not a wife beater. As a woman, I agree with him knocking the shit out of Kay for what she did. She's an entitled, bitchy, whiney and dramatic white woman who thought she could nag her italian husband into submission when she realizes this life and relationship was not right for her INSTEAD OF LEAVING. She remarried later in life anyway so why couldnt she leave him and not lie to him and abort his child. Without his consent? And they're catholic? Fuck her

@@MidTierVillainnah this does work in reality. I've known many people in the crime world on the streets cause surprise surprise: drugs, booze, sex, and crime do happen to nornal people in real life and Ive seen many people die early or fuck their lives up being like sonny and fredo. Very few people in the world move like Michael. The ones who do have it all and are out of reach to the little people. It's very wise info

So I search other movie he is on then I say why don't I try watching this .. I was like dang!!! Michael Corleone is one of a kind man... He REALLY TAKES CARE of the family after Vito died... He also calls Michael an "innocent war veteran". Very ignorant. Nobody is innocent after they have killed the enemy in combat. Anybody who has survived combat would know that. The first two Godfather films are known for being misinterpreted by the ignorant as anthoms for toxic masculinity. That's why so many of those ignorant people hate Part 3 for its lack of misogyny.

it takes an extreme example to garner attention, but truthfully people just want a little bit of what they don't have enough of. they're attracted to someone selfish because they're too selfless in their own lives. someone cold because they're too emotional in their own lives. someone bold & brash, not because they wish to commit the same crimes or what have you, but because they're too reserved & risk averse in their own lives. it's more so signaling than anything else. Apolloina was killed cause she was YOUNG AND IMMATURE! Michael was teaching her how to drive and she was out of his sight when this happened. Like a whiny little girl, she jumped in the car and played with the steering wheel saying he promised to drive with her. When he realizes its a bomb he yells for her not to start the car but it was too late. She quickly started the car and was impatient to wait for him or wait outside of the car for him to arrive. This shows to me that this was the only yet main problem he wouldve had with Apolloina if she came to america. He wouldve had an issue with her naivety and her being hard to keep within safe keeping. If Kay was in italy and it was her instead of Apolloina, trust me, Kay wouldve been standing outside the car or waited until michael came to start the car. Kay was hardly ever without Michael distance wise. So yes, the bomb was because of his mafia relations but that incident was a pure acdident cause anyone could've gotten in that car and been gone.

Tbh, I was always disappointed in him for not dropping Kay the instant she changed and became a guilt tripping, overly moral, suspicious and judgemental spouse who got in his way all the time. He was so adamant on kids and so lazy with not wanting to start over that he immediately went back to kay after Apolloina died and married her then tried to have more kids. He should've politely told Kay its over and a lot of negative things happened in Italy which made him not want to be in a relationship anymore. Then he should've mingled more and found himself another Apolloina or an italian girl who would bare his kids and minds her buisness. He would've been better off. All his kids were bums. The son in the death of corleone sided against him and sided with Kay as if kay is a fucking angel when she isnt. The daughter was promiscuous and shady etc. None of his kids seemed to have either of their personalities and I notice Kay had absolutely NO involvement with the daughter most of the movie and whenever she did it didnt feel impactful. Kay was willing to split the family and have her son on her side and let michael take the daughter. Tragic

@@AdioshhDfhkka The thing is, he did a lot of things he absolutely didn't have to do, pretty much everything in GF2. He had more than enough money to retire comfortably and to grow that money via legitimate means. If he truly cared about his family more than anything, that would've been the only play. The power made him paranoid and crazy and it became an addiction, turning him into an unfeeling killing machine. Some might say that mob bosses don't retire, but that's not true, several bosses and high-ranking members retired (or were forced to retire): Joe Bonanno, Joe Abate, Pete Casella, Vincent Rao, even Lucky Luciano lived out his days in a kind of semi-retirement. Michael could've moved the family to Sicily (or anywhere) and become a private citizen. He only claims to be doing everything for his family, but he's really doing it to satisfy his addiction to power.

He never ruined kays life. Kay was a weak drama addicted leech who didnt walk away until he slapped the taste out of her mouth (rightfully so) and pushed her away. She knew what his family was about when his father got whacked during christmas when she read the papers outside the shops. She knew he was changing overtime during the first movie. Its not Michaels fault if she chose to stay instead of leaving at the first sign of many red flags. When Michael left for Italy all that time??? Her dumbass was tryinf to write him letters and hang onto him despite him being in a foreign country. She was too stupid to put two and two together that he left america due to crime to protect himself. Also its kinda foolish to assume if your boyfriend flees the country for his native homeland that he will remain single in that country. Michael was young, good looking, and had a solid head on his shoulders. He wasnt completely impressionable. Anyone with brains can look at kay and Michael and tell they didnt belong together. Apolloina was the one he belonged with. She suited the mafia and costea nostra life better than Kay. Kay decided to stay, begrudgingly get pregnant then abort it (birth control was developed in the 70s so she could've stopped this if she wanted to before hand*) and guilt trip him. Kay couldve left him the instant he assumed the godfather role and let him have 50/50 custody. She chose to make her life hard
