Stock Summits are in the TOP 5 fun RCs category in my book. They fly, they swim, they crawl, they bash, and they speed all with remote locking diffs and 2 speeds. SO FUN.

I've had my Summit for about 5 years and I just recently did some mods to it. I put a brushless Castle system in it and am finally using my RC4WD Rock Crusher tires on it. The bearings in the ol 775 motor were dieing and I bought the Castle system for it about a year after I bought the Summit itself. The tires make easy work of the terrain, but Hill climbs became harder as it's a little more top heavy. The Rock Crushers are taller than a stock X-Maxx tire for an idea, but about half the width. The tires do great in mud even without using the lockers. My Summit has always been my go to for the very worst of conditions and you'd never know it after I clean it. Still looks new and that's no BS. Lol. My Summit is a first Gen with the old TQ transmitter with the flip up antenna. Yes, I'm still using the original transmitter and receiver. Most of the tiny servos have long since died and eventually I want to get them all working again as the one for the two speed and the one for the rear locker are dead. I changed out the servo for a single 20 kg one from Power HD, originally installed both like the factory had setup, but they require more amperage and cause the ESC to brownout. The OEM ESC would just glitch and respond erratically to my throttle inputs. With the Castle system it shuts the ESC off and reboots. I've got to download the Castle software on to my computer so I can up the BEC output, BUT in turn will kill any micro servos I've got and have to find something that will handle more voltage or get a different steering servo that runs max of 6 volts like the one I run in my TRX4.

Thanks thanks for the nice long comment. You sure did a lot of customization to it. And you’re still using the same old transmitter for it that’s just amazing

How do you Get the water out of the tiers ?
@TheTankRC3 жыл бұрын
Me I vent my tire by drilling for little 1/8 holes in them, I do have a video on my KZbin Channel showing how to do it I will post a link shortly. The other guys they actually plugged the hole in the rims with a piece of duct tape.

Hey awesome summit video! I just got the orange 2019 model 2 weeks ago brand new and i freakin love it! Question for ya.. how do u keep water outta your summit wheels? I taped my vent holes but was wondering a better way. I dont want to drill holes and spin them kinda dry. That just seems like a terrible idea. And did u replace all hardware with stainless steel. I did on mine cause after the very first wet session i noticed the stock hardware already was rusting. I hate rust! Thanks for any tips! SUMMIT ON!
@TheTankRC4 жыл бұрын
thank you for the nice comment, if you do not want water to get in you have to plug the holes with tape or silicone. But if you already have water in them you don't have a choice to drill the tires or unglue them by either baking them or using acetone, I drilled mine out with 1/8 hole on four different spot on each tires
@TheTankRC4 жыл бұрын
Here's the video that demonstrate how I drill them out and why. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpetZ3Rrrs6qgbc
@IansRcFun4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tank! I did tape my holes before i ever got the truck wet so they haven't got water in there yet. Im just still a little scared to drill holes in my tires. Seems like it will only allow even more moisture in. I ordered a set of duratrax belted Mt lockups for my summit so we'll see if those are vented. Hope not lol
