They are talking about how people use and hold anger. For example, Instead of some people using anger for just causes to create meaningful change, it gets misused and misdirected to hurt people whether that is celebrities or other humans. As we know this hurt can cause damage, even resulting in someone's death.

This song has a very clear message about the misuse of the emotion "anger". Anger is necessary and can be used against injustices to change the world. However many people throw it around and use it to hurt others, which is a waste of the emotion "anger". If there isn't an official video, strongly recommend watching a live performance rather than these lyric videos. There is also an UGH! Explained video that is fantastic. There are explanation videos for many of BTS videos because their lyrics almost always have multiple meanings. Idk if this is tactless for me to say, so I'll delete if sm1 asks, but bc I didn't see it, I'd like to share some history of what was also going on when this song came out. BTS tend to make songs or references in their songs that affect them on a socioeconomic and political scale (like *Go Go,* as you've mentioned), and they too have been subjected to a lot of quite irrational and irrationally large-scale hate. So, I agree with both of your interpretations at 13:43, bc a few months b4 the song's release, there was an unfortunate string of celeb su*cides (for various, and some, undisclosed reasons), and at least a couple of them were ppl who were very vocal and public abt the unwarranted hate they got from online, in the industry, and by the media.

People will often find multiple meaning within BTS songs, with any song the interpretation is left up to the listener. One listener may find a song fun, while another finds the same song sad. BTS have a lot of songs with intent, and in order to understand the intent you have to know more about the group, where they come from, and how they draw inspiration. You don't have to understand the intent to like a song though. This song is about the misuse of anger. The music in the song will get you fired up punching the air, and at the same time they say don't waste anger on meaningless things. It can actually help you get some aggression out without taking it out on someone else se

The wheel did pick a good one for you. After your last reactions, I already guessed that a rap line song would probably be the right thing for you. 😁 As is already mentioned in other comments. If there is no mv or after you watched the lyric video you could watch a live performance. 'UGH!' was most recently performed during 'Yet to come' in Busan. (together with cypher Pt 3, so you might like to check that out first...) And you are definitely right that there is no right or wrong interpretation of the songs/lyrics, and I enjoy hearing your thoughts. But through language and cultural barriers, some things might get lost. So you could also check out an explanation video. For this, DKDKTV's is probably the best one. (Another good source for explainer videos is bookish theories.) If you have the time and inclination, you could do all of that in one video. Like a lyric or music video with your thoughts and interpretations, an explainer video after and a life performance at the end. Just a suggestion. I would definitely like and watch something like that. And keep on pausing through the video. I really like to hear your initial thoughts and how they change as the song progresses. I'm looking forward to your next reactions 😃 💜

what I take away from UGH is that there are issues that really deserve anger, where anger is appropriate and needed ,but we are getting angry about a ton of irrelevant bs (policing each other, celebrity culture etc) that we lose focus of what's really going on in the world. and bts are the target of such ''malicious anger''. it's not just that bts are getting shit on, as they said they are used to it and don't mind anymore, it's that all this malicious anger and energy directed at them cold be used to rage against the real issues in the world

The "Ahems" is a Korean culture thing, where people who are higher in social standing or financial standing or generational standing etc. clear their throats when they're looking down at another person's viewpoint or expressing derision. You clear your throat, like "sure, sure". It can have multiple meanings, and I've seen a lot of other comments recommending DKDKTV's video explaining UGH. That channel has a lot of good videos when you want context on the cultural differences and nuances/references that Western audiences may not understand easily. They do a great video on DDAENG as well (if you watch that one) because Ddaeng is a unique word that Koreans use in many different ways and Western audiences will not understand most of the lyrics without some context.

BTS did a dance intro performance to Krizz Kaliko and Limp Bizkit at the New Year Eve music festival (12/31/14) for a TV network, and the camera work was shoddy and they zoomed out a lot so you couldn’t see all the intricate details and view of the choreography. BTS were still rookies, so whenever they get a chance to be on TV (since not very many chances), they can show off their skill and what they’re about. Their label Big Hit was peeved of course that people are not able see all their hard work into the performance, so a week later Big Hit uploaded a video of them filming BTS’ intro performance themselves with proper camera view for fans but also as a snark back at the bleh camera work from that network’s festival lol. Anyway, I think you’ll enjoy the performance to those songs and they also happen to be in Navy uniforms.

On the 24 hour thing, I've seen ARMY on twitter go back and forth for years about this. In general I think it's more respectful to wait so that more views can go to them, but I don't personally get too mad cause I'll use reactions as fillers sometimes when I'm really digging a song and I'm tempted to loop it (bad for view count, lots of views get filtered out that way). It might seem kinda funny to be talking about view counts and stuff, I've never cared about that before being ARMY. There's a reason though, it's the same reason we're so protective of the guys. They went through a LOT in early days coming from a small company and ARMY worked hard and got organized to make sure they would get so big people couldn't ignore or disregard them any more. It's our way of protecting them and showing appreciation for them. It might seem weird, but it worked. They're untouchable world class superstars now and we love that for them!

I actually think that reaction videos help in the first 24 hours. You can't stream the song over and over and expect the views to count. I think it's recommended to watch a couple of videos in between each stream. Plus, it widens the exposure to the general public and the artist earns revenue from the reaction videos as well. Just my opinion...

You should watch the whole J Hope´s Lollapalooza concert. It was fire!!!!!!! I am a 50 year old mom, rock lover and man this concert is one of the best performances I´ve ever watched in my entire life. UGH is about anger that can be used in a positive way to get important issues on the table but useless anger is not only useless but dangerous. It can cause somenone´s misery or even cost someone´s life. Hating idols is pontless. Use your anger for something important that can change the world.

To explain UGH! briefly (which is the sound of annoyance that you let out.. ughhhhh) BTS rapline here basically criticize people complaining about non-issues and turning them into issues, versus not being vocal when actual issues happen in the world. It’s a critique of how people just complain about other people all the time and have so much hate for things that don’t matter and how righteous anger against, for example, injustice is dying The last part with all the ‘ahem’ (throat clearing sound) is more about their own selves and how other people say “I would endure all the criticism if I were in your shoes” or “well it’s expected with fame” and yada yada I also suggest that you look up either subbed live performances, or color coded lyrics for songs without a music video and also maybe read a slight synopsis pff from the web that describes the general message of the song

One reason why we ARMY requests new BTS music video reactions to wait 24 hours is that because BTS is hated on a lot for these past 10 years since their debut, even today, & many haters make the excuse that BTS is not getting a lot of views on their stuff. So by focusing those views onto the Bighit/Hybe official youtube channel & its videos (& BangtanTV channel), it gives BTS a little bit more flex when it comes to the amount of views. The goal is to have as many views by 24 hours. We probably would not be doing this if BTS did not have to go through a lot of crap. But BTS has been proving haters & industry critics wrong all the time & they thank their fanbase for helping. Because let's face it, there would be no such thing as a celebrity if celebrities did not have any fans, not even one. Having said that, there are non-kpop non-fans that consider streaming views as a fake achievement because the huge amount of views are forced, via constant streaming, & not considered "organic". Basically, they probably mean one fan or curious person watching, per view. But ARMY will still do it though because we feel it is right because of the aforementioned hating. Someone else can elaborate on the view streaming process. I hope you eventually watch the Ugh explanation video by DKDKTV channel so you understand this song better, simply because this song applies 100% to what I just wrote & your interpretations of the song are on the right track. And you might have missed the gunfire at the end of the song as you stopped while the bullets were flying midway, heh. And BTS are now all going to be in the military, so that they will have that in common with you guys. Think about it, BTS was started as a military concept but in a symbolic way. After their conscription is over, BTS may be the only band in global history that is both fictional & non-fictional military. And will also now be part of 2 armies.

A lot of the rapline songs have Korean and societal references that would require a Korean to explain to non Koreans. I know other ARMY'S have told you about DKDKTV. They explain a lot of the Korean references really well. They've done this one, Ddaeng, Suga's Daechwita, Idol, Spine Breaker, and Baepsae. Outro: Tear was written by Suga when they thought about disbanding due to the pressure and other stuff. They came together, listened to it, cried, finished the song and then went on their tour and played in the stadiums without ARMY fully understanding until they explained later. Their live concert wearing DIOR is one of the most iconic rapline performances, very powerful. RM uses it as tear 😢, Suga uses it as tear 📃 like ripping, and J-Hope uses it as fear. I enjoy your reactions guys and look forward to other reactions. And if you have any questions you can ask us or your local ARMY wife 😉. She is an amazing person and can help you

Thanks, gents. This is the first of your videos where I felt the sound levels were great. I struggled to watch earlier reactions and in fact had to abandon you. You said you would get there, so, well done. This song is a bit of a masterpiece. You are right to interpret it your way - and it isn't easy to get exactly what they mean by it. Doolset's translation is significantly different from the lyrics shown here, and she elaborates on some of the references in a very helpful way. You might not recognise some things she refers to, but the doong doong doong and pook pook pook all remind me of kdrama scenes where someone in authority pokes or hits their "inferior", goading or humiliating them - makes me so mad, because we'd never put up with it, nor would we be likely to experience it. Absolutely not essential to understanding this rap, but adds a layer to it that is almost a physical understanding, what in psychology might be called a "felt sense".
@WonderingWildWanderingRose
@WonderingWildWanderingRose Жыл бұрын
I agree, they can interpret it their own way, but especially for the rapline, they have something they really want to say/express to others. Delving a bit deeper than one's own understanding in that case is called for, especially when you know a language,cultural, and historical base is different. Getting an idea of others' perceptions and getting some background knowledge can help clarify your own understanding/viewpoint, even if ultimately you hold onto your own interpretation.

@@tigerteel Oh no, I didn't mean your interpretations were wrong. I quite like your interpretations. However, after you have done your reactions, you can check out DKDKTV to see the cultural references you missed. Things that there is no way you would know unless you are Korean or at least extremely familiar with Korean culture. That is the great thing about BTS's music. You can enjoy it at surface level cause it sounds great. You can enjoy it at mid-level of understanding the translated lyrics that are provided. But, you can also enjoy it on a deeper level by appreciating the culture from which the music is derived. Not every BTS needs an explained video but certain songs like UGH, Ddaeng, Bapsae, Daechwita, etc. have so much cultural references and meaning in them.

If you want to watch videos/live performances with english subs check out the reaction channel Enjoy BTS More. She has a lot of content (I am watching to try to catch up with their discography) and does an excellent job of translating..... PS many of their songs also have translations by koreans which should be watched as well to understand what is really going on...so much of their music/lyrics has more than one meaning and some of them are very deep.

Guys, a reccomendation for when you react to BTS’s music is that, you can most definitely pause and go back and forth and try to understand it while you watch it but after you finish watching/hearing it, it’s good to search up the English translation of the lyrics to dissect the and see what the song might be about, if you still don’t get it there are a lot of explanation videos you can watch to further understand the music

The song is about being angry at frivolous anger. They say anger is vital for important causes, but is wasted on harm/maliciousness. Def. need an analysis video to get all the linguistic and cultural meanings in the song. As usual, incredibly intelligent and clever wordplay is happening.

Hi! So this song is about anger but how it is misplaced for trivial things instead of being use for causes that matter. When they are saying ugh can I ugh... get angry until it turns to ashes, it's said in a negative connotation, they are imitating those people who waste their time hating on things that don't really need hate or anger (such as hating on BTS). What they say is, anger can be good and can change history but only when its aimed at things that need changes). PS: you didn't finish the song lol. It has quite an impactful ending
