3 Vital RIDING HACKS for Intermediate Riders

Today we are going to be looking at 3 Cheats for dirt bike riding. Used together, they are what I see as the easiest, most efficient, safest way to ride a dirt bike. These tips are going to give you a shortcut to a more safe, effective and enjoyable way to spend time on your motorcycle.
Look ahead, stay smooth and use your feet are the basis of motorbike riding. You are going to be able to use these techniques in pretty well every riding situation you come across as a cheat code or hack to help you figure out how to conquer any obstacle or riding terrain.

Mate I’m 60 and just used this vid to get home when a 1 hr ride off road turned into 3 hr ride. Dropped the bike in a huge puddle and jumped off knee deep in another. What got me home was this vid and riding much more relaxed between puddles ( they are ponds anywhere but here) 😊 thank you 🙏

Excellent video. Well done! Being a 500cc road racing state champion with some long standing lap records from back in the early eighties, I can say those three tips apply 100% to the tarmac track as well. Focus on going smooth and the speed will automatically come no need to force it. Very well presented, I really enjoyed watching 👍

Fantastic advice and great video. At nearly 55 I did my first off-road trail riding training day last weekend. The following day I put those new skills into practice and really felt more confident on the bike. 100% right mate: 1. Look ahead - coz you can’t react that fast to what is right in front of you so better to plan ahead. 2. Be smooth - coz on and off the throttle violently throws you off balance. 3. Use your feet - coz if your weight is on your arms you are usually off balance. 👍🏻😁

Good on you mate, great video. You have a great way of putting difficult concepts into simple terms. Hey Skids, great tips mate, I am going to be trying harder to keep up on my feet more, just the old knees and ankles are a bit buggered and I usually only get my arse off the seat in the really rough stuff. I get what you mean about listening to the feedback from your feet, it really does help with stability. Bit of rain coming through the scarp this weekend by the look of it, should be nice out in the bush.

Such a great clip mate and soo true. Let the bike dance under the balls of your feet. I admit I thought I was pretty handy on MX, Enduro, Desert situations, but always rode in the arches of my feet (and flogging the soles of my boots pretty hard). This is something that I was never taught growing up, it's just In recent time's that I have watched and listened to clips and podcasts that I've learned the techniques you explained. It's super hard to break a bad habit, but like you mentioned, slow it down a touch and relearn, then the speed will come. Smooth is fast🤘. Awesome work dude👊

They are Forma Terra Evo. Pretty nice boot, comfy, with a proper stitched sole. Fair protection for an all day adventure boot but not quite as sturdy as Sidi Adventure.

I also find that I cannot have a too light/lose grip on my bars in all terrain. Especially up hill rocky terrain still demands a firmer grip. What must I practice to reach the 'holding a raw egg' despite terrain type?

Great tutorial and editing! Off topic question. Which tank bag are you using and do you have a vent tube on the cap or a locking cap to avoid the tube? I have the Acerbis tank on my Pig, but most bags don't fit good or seem to get into your crotch.

Nelson Rigg 2015 I believe it's called. With locking cap. I run it backwards so all my shit doesn't fall out when opening, love this bag, this is my second and have a third in storage.

Formas updated Adventure boot the Forma Terra Evo. While they are comfy and stiffer than Formas crappy OG adv boots, they are still not quite there IMO. Would buy Sidi ADV if I had my time again. ENOUGH protection yet still comfy for all day (back to back) cruising.

Balls of feet. I remember talking to my wife through the Sena while going through a forest. I told her to stand on her balls. I was serious cause I know what I meant. She then had to stop her bike cause she was laughing so hard. That is an important tip that i to don’t practice enough as I tend to rife with my toes just in back of the brake pedal so I don’t have to move it forward as much. Lazy. I tend to ride lazily. I should do better.

Hahaha that's so good. The thing is, ya actually get to ride lazier if you use your feet properly cos it translates into not having to fight the bike. Ya do have to dance a little but the rest is then just squeezing Levers. I'm the laziest rider out, that's why I've developed this technique.
