I had a friend his architecture degree isfrom overseas and it's only 4 years course not 5 years like what the AACA required, so his B.Arch is not recognised by AACA, what he did next was just enrolled into one of the accredited M.Arch program in Australia, so he had to add 2 more years but after that he has accredited degree, his degree verified and he was able to take APE after doing some work experience wit a local architectural practice, finally he became a registered architect in the state he is in, Its more complicated for sure if your overseas qualification is not recognised but you can still do it , like what my friend did.

the reason why they changed to M.Arch pathway because th B.Arch now is only offering 3 years duration ,so you have to add another 2 years in M.Arch thats total of 5 years. The old accredited B.Arch was a full 5 years course, which they don't offer anymore.

@@ChannelAMEC yes the did change that years ago, I graduated from one of the local university in Sydney with B.Arch back in 2005, the program was 5 years full time, its accredited undergraduated program and graduates can enter to registration as an Architect in their respective states. Most uni changed to B.Arch> M.Arch pathway around 2008 if I am not mistaken.

Thanks so much for making this highly specific video about this field! I was searching online about the process and really appreciate how you explained everything so thoroughly. From your experience, how likely is it for someone in the architecture field to get the 189 visa successfully? I studied a masters in architecture in Australia but am working in a field that slightly deviates from this path (3D visualizer in the construction industry). Would that affect my chances of applying for a 189 visa?

Thank you for your specific video on skill assessment process for architects. Can you please indicate what the process should be for someone who pursued PhD in architecture from UofA (SA), Masters and Bachelor overseas? In this scenario, to apply for 190/189 in SA, what is need to be done? positive assessment for stage 1 only, or need both stages 1 and 2 to apply? Thanks a lot

Hi Karl I have completed a bachelor's of architecture in India. The guidelines say that there shouldn't be any semester which contributes entirely to practical experience. But I had to spend my whole of the 9 th semester to do an internship as a part of the course. Am I still eligible for stage 1 assesment. However I am a registered architect in India, do you think this could makeup for that. Also, The guidelines say that there needs to be atleast one year of work experience out of which 6 months must be post graduation. Which means a student has to work while pursuing his degree. Don't you think this would go against the " eligibility criteria for qualifications assessment " where it says students shouldn't have any semester which contributes entirely to practical experience. Can you please comment on this. Thanks Sai
