What’s the difference between regular package and plus besides the case?🤔

The plus has a few features that aren’t included in the regular. I cover them all at the end but the plus has voltage and continuity on the unity. The receiver also has a non contact voltage tester as well

I'm a DIY guy. A few months ago one of my A/H's was off. Usually it's the float switch for the condensate but it was clear. The breaker wasn't tripped but I had no power at the A/H. This was starting to make no sense as I had power at the breaker. I removed the wires from the A/H and tied them together and checked continuity at the panel which I had. I ruled out critters eating the wires in the attic. I swapped the wires to a working breaker and still no power. I was stumped. I decided to buy another breaker anyway even though I knew this made no sense. On the way to HD I remembered we had load sheds on the A/C's for the whole house generator. They have a contactor and control board. They are normally closed. The reverse of an A/C contactor. I bypassed the contactor and back in business. I spent a few hours figuring that out as I was stumped. Normally your wiring goes from the panel to the A/H. I wonder if something like this would have made the troubleshooting quicker. Turned out Generac had defective boards in the load shed and it was covered under warranty. If anyone reading this ever has the same issue with a Generac load shed you don't have to bypass the contactor. Just remove the connector on the board and the defective board won't pull the contactor in.

so continuity is safe to test on this device even if the circuit might be energized or get energized at some point?

It automatically tests. There wont be any continuity on a live circuit tho or it would be tripping and be off. It can tone while energized which is great. Theres no settings on the unit tho it’ll automatically show if there is continuity

It depends. If there’s continuity that means there’s a short and it’ll tell you the strength to know where the short is coming from. The energized portion isn’t continuity, it’s toning
