Best video yet over the years Coach McKie. The route concepts are spot on. Blocking concepts and defensive perspective/philosophy also.

We will run power but we have a check guard will kick the 3 tech, tackle will pull. I have only seen one sam backer fast enough to get in backfield and disrupt needless to say he is at UF now. We will also motion Hb outside numbers to weakside then run screens or qb power unless they fix alignment. I am a big fan of getting a slot receiver against a will in c3 in the flat that is a tough assignment for most backers.

That 4 man flood with the switch is awesome, and the 4i read key for a downhill QB keep is nasty. Thanks for sharing and love the 30 for 30!

Coach, I’d also love to see a video of drills for pass protection. I know you’re an advocate for half slide protection. Thank you sir!

I’ve been running the 3-4 since 1994 and wouldn’t personally ever use the front drawn, BUT the insight is great. I run the 46 out of the 3-4 so I would like to see how you would operate against the 46 Bear defense. Also the Slide Route in the RNS would be awesome as well.

I would like to see your take on draws and screens. We get a lot of off man and heavy blitzing and need to more ways make them pay. Great stuff coach!

Love the series, thank you! Would love to see how you handle a bear front. We usually get either 5-2, or 3-4 with LB blitz every play. I've got your Simplifying the Air Raid book and am distilling my playbook to: 2 Runs: Chris Ault's Inside Zone (Pepper & Smoke) 5 Pass: 2 sets of screens (2x2,3x1) Shallow Cross Y Cross Y Corner Thoughts?

I'll do that coach. Thanks for the suggestion.

Wow ...teams still running 5-2?? We ran that in high school back in 90s..ends were coming off edges from lb stances...Nebraska stopped running that once Miami abused them with their speed..they switched to 4-3..

@@coldspirit9904 You mean the 91/92 Orange Bowl? Miami scored 22 points against a Nebraska 3-4 - hardly a blow out. The bigger problem was Miami's #1 ranked defence that held the duck egg. 10 years later, another #1 ranked Miami team scored 37 past a Nebraska 4-3 defence. I am not so sure the stats back up the assertion that a 4-3 is superior...

@@zelandakhniteblade5436 Miami ran the 4-3 that year...west coast style of offense burned the 5-2...too slow...even 4-4 was a better more flexible defense than 5-2 ...I remember ucla running it in the mid 90s

What is the pass pro scheme for the 4 man flood? Is the qb rolling out to the right?
@coachjefe69124 жыл бұрын
The inside zone where you read the 4i is called MIDLINE for us. We teach it the same as inside zone except the back CANNOT cut back. It’s was great for us last season but the only downside is the QB often gets to aggressive with the pull. It’s funny as shit to watch defensive tackles wrap the back only to realize he doesn’t have the ball!

Hey Coach. You have more experience dealing with the defense's 3 motion reactions than I do, so I wanted to see if I'm on the right track. When we motion across... No movement: Zone Spin/Slide: Man Is that right? Or should I check alignment after they've moved?
@CoachMcKie4 жыл бұрын
It could be done if they bump/spin.

Coach...when u say "simplify"...do u mean (in this case) line up in 3-4 against any or all personnel the offense sets up on the field?? In talking mainly collegiate level...do u agree or disagree with the match up concept of nickel and diming personnel vs 3 or 4 wide even if it means leaving ur best defenders out their in exchange for match ups?
@CoachMcKie4 жыл бұрын
I think defenses should stay in the 3-4 against all sets. There will be adjustments but I found players get confused when moving between 3 man fronts to 4 man fronts. You don't want your players confused. Confusion = death.

@@CoachMcKie Coach McKie i was talking about stayin in 3 man fronts but lets say...from front 7 to front 6 depending on what the offense throws out their...like going from 3-4 to 3-3...or are you just like sink or swim with your best 11 defenders? and how would you defend the goalline with the 3-4 concept? bear fronts or move to a 5-2? or 5-3?
