Thanks Dan; another useful bit of information. Have always wrapped tripods around each individual supporting pole, this " loose wrap " combined with the turn of the pole is pure genius ***** Cheers.

For the rotisserie, a Dakota fire pit is awesome. The Ram-Jet function requires less fuel to create an extremely hot but controlled burn that is wind resistant.

Ok tell me if this is a stupid idea but if you have clean long metal pegs could you use those for the grill top?
@frankhusel50333 жыл бұрын
I don't see a reason why this should be a stupid idea. It's rather a smart one. Another suggestion for multipurpose use of your gear. Very nice! As I think about it, it seems to me that carrying something between six and twelve one foot long lightweight titanium bars that can be sticked firmly together are not a bad idea: tent pegs, bars for your hammock to keep it flat or tent and shelter poles, tripod or grill, fishing rod or spear, litter for the lazy or stretcher for the starved who don't manage to cook in the woods ... 😁

Honestly, the grill method seems pretty weak -- there's a reason he showed it for all of 3 seconds. If you can't do the full rotisserie for some strange reason, kebabs are the next best thing, like small rotisseries.

There is another way instead of the third one using green sticks as grille. As cooking time prolong, those sticks will tend to become brittle. Try using a rock, pebble from river bed, or just a piece of flat rock. Clean it off, it will work like cast iron skillet
@CLove5112 жыл бұрын
I was gonna say that grill is pretty sus. Your meat had better cook fast! We always used the flat rock method for fish, and it works perfectly.

Love these ideas! When i go to the woods i always make cowboy coffee. I am currently using the small stanley cook set that comes with 2 mugs. It doesn't have a pot hanger it has a folding handle on the side. Any ideas on suspending a pot like that? I am currently just placing the pot on the coals.
@tylerbarney96233 жыл бұрын
If you could put 2 holes just below the rim you could use a metal coat hanger to add a bail!
@frankhusel50333 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can squeeze the rim of your mug or pot between two flexible sticks tied together at both ends where they can be hanged upon outside the fire heat? Never practised that, just an idea. Furthermore, there are a lot of knots around to suspend cylindric receptacles. Look for the double fisherman's bend which is adjustable to a certain degree and would suit more than the barrel hitch. Look at www.animatedknots.com. Bye!
