Koryu thoughts....take both arms to one side of you instead. Breaks their structure, prevents them easily then continuing to push towards you. For someone larger barreling in, that's important. Then you're also behind them or to the side - opening up for striking, locks, takedowns...control of their weapons (fists or more)... Still seizes centre, but removes the strong line to strong line issue of going straight in and they're in a weaker position too as their structure/kuzushi is broken.

Easier said then done when your the bigger guy defending a push. Not so much when your the smaller guy you tend to fly like the wind I think the best way to defend if your the smaller guy is to throw the first punch, target a vital area and don't let up until they are down for the count or until you have room to escape. Also a headbutt against the nose is very affective as well

So my brother pushed me very hard and in a aggressive way (we were not joking around, we were fighting over something). He took my arm and pushed me and at first I just stood there but as the pushes got harder and more aggressively I hit him in the face with my palm. Them my mom said that it was my fault because I hit him first. Who fault was it?
