I’m surprised you didn’t specify that UniFi supports mesh. The UniFi Express and two U6 Pros are a killer deal for an entire system for someone that needs three APs for reliable coverage at $468.

I have a UX and two U6+ and it’s ridiculous how good my coverage is. My home is 2282 sq feet (212m2) per floor.

That's good to hear their mesh systems work well. Thanks for sharing

One great thing about Unifi Dream Machine Pro SE is you can literally run everything of the gateway with the 8 port built-in switch. You can add a hard drive, run an access point with POE, run cameras of POE, and anything else that requires a hard wire connection to get you up and running for just around 1100 USD. Then upgrade and expand when your budget allows. Great video as always, keep preaching about a good network to keep your smart home happy.

Great suggestion! You’re right while limited on Ethernet ports it’s all you need

I would suggest you take a look at the TP link Omada system. At a fraction of the cost of Ubiquity but all of the functionality anyone would need for home usage. I’m running the controller, gateway and a couple of access points for not much more than a mesh wi-fi.

Nice! Thanks for the suggestion to check it out. I like my TP-Link camera and smart plugs.

@@EricWelander I have a TP-Link Deco mesh system with tri-band for wireless backhaul and it’s also been rock solid!

Honestly these days it's ubiquity or nothing at every price point.

If I want to get into the unifi ecosystem and use their products instead of the router/modem that my ISP provides, is it possible? If so, please explain how I can achieve this. Thanks

UniFi Expres is an all in one device from Ubiquiti with wireless AP built-in. It doesn’t have PoE so if you want extra wireless AP’s, you’ll need a switch with PoE, but then it would be better to get the Cloud Gateway Ultra and one or two wireless AP’s.

I cut a part of this video talking all about researching to put ISP router/modems into bridge mode. You'll want to do that so it's just a connection to the internet and your other Wi-Fi system is actually doing the routing. This is a little specific to your ISP though. Certain providers, like some for 5G home internet around me, forbid this. The rabbit hole on this is very deep which is why I cut it from the video as it doesn't apply to everyone.

Any Apple Home/Homekit mesh systems. I’ve been thinking about investing the Tp Link Decco system. Any thoughts?

I have been using the Deco XE75 mesh for over 2 years now with no issues at all. Mesh feature works very well and my only complaint is that they don’t sell this particular model in single units but in pairs. This could have changed since I purchased my units. I would definitely recommend this system.

@@emilsecker7881 After replacing my wifi setup twice I decided it was an issue with the cameras an not my wifi. Given the number of complaints, it's safe to say they're pretty much garbage unfortunately. Even when they do work, they miss recording important events on a regular basis. Someone walks up to my door and 50% of the time it never detects them.

Have you tried a dedicated AP next to the camera? 😂

@@jefverb Yup. Still goes offline. The cameras are the problem, not the wifi network.
