The simplified procedure for obtaining Romanian citizenship is regulated by Articles 10 and 11 of the Citizenship Act and Article 7 of the Constitution of Romania. Descendants of a person who were lived in Romania before 1940 can apply for a Romanian passport. Participants in the accelerated immigration program can receive their second citizenship in 14 months or less without passing a language test and meeting the requirement of residing in Romania. Is this true and if so what is the cost of this route ?

Are you telling me that I have to wait 5 years after moving there to get my Romanian citizenship? We also travel a lot - so how much time each year do I have to physically be in Romania?

Hello Steven, yes it is true, it does not matter how much you invest here. Romania does not have and option for citizenship by investment. If I understand correctly you wish to stay a while in the country though?

@@RRPartnersBucharest I wish to move fulltime in 4 years after my youngest is done with high school. I am thinking it would be faster for me to get citizenship by investment in another EU country to be able to stay in Romania fulltime. Although I believe I read somewhere that if I start a company that employs Romanian citizens, I could possible gain Romanian citizenship that way. I would also be relinquishing my US citizenship.

The hardest part is to take the ID and after that they will give you the passport in few days. For the ID you need a house contract NOT a renting contract. The easiest way is to speak with some apartament/house owner to declare you live in his house. I can tell you what to do if you came to Romania. Don't know if you speak Romanian that's why i write in english to you.
