What's your favourite single handed 16th note groove?

Use me is up there for me as well. Otherwise I keep forgetting, express yourself, love land. Gadson, Pocaro, Nate Smith & Purdie are the masters of this👌🏽

@@tdrum21 yeah Nate Smith has an insane vocabulary in this style.

Good Stuff by Kelis but I recognise it's all programmed. I just love the bass line and vocal.

Nice one Dave! Very cool music also. Good idea to have music around the groove in your demonstration!

Thanks man. Bit of extra effort but I think it adds some context to these ideas so Ill probably be doing it for all videos going forward. All of it comes from epidemic sound. A cool site for creating drumless tracks for students and videos.

Brilliant! I really need to work on the tip/shank hi hat technique. Adds so much to grooves
@DaveMajor3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, mate adds so much to it! Here's a little tip for nailing it. It can be really hard to hear exactly if you are hitting the shank at the right time and you can end up flipping it round very easily so practice the patterns on the ride cymbal instead. Use the bell of the ride for the Hi Hat accent sound and the bow for the non accented one. Its the exact same motion so you are training the coordination and then once you have it nailed. You just transfer back to the hi-hat.

@@DaveMajor thanks for the tip! I’d never heard of or thought of that. Off to give it a go
