Thanks that was very helpful! I play the EWI with a lot of legato/portamento (that's the Bollywood style!) but I was always frustrated that I could not record MIDI and have it sound right on playback. Your trick of lengthening each note to overlap the next sounds interesting, and I will have to try it.

In Logic Pro (e.g. with ES2) you can set the Gate Time to ~108% rather than manually editing the note length.

Hi! Thank you very much for the video. Really interesting! Volume CC7 is already mapped on GarageBand for EWI? If you blow, it works out of the box? :)

Unfortunately no, nothing works "out of the box" with Garageband and EWI. I suggest getting a Plugin that works well with EWI. I recommend using the EVI-NER plugin! It works "out of the box" with EWI. Here's a really good video about using it with Garageband: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXfIgZmJlMSof7c

Matteo, I have a correction! If you have your EWI send CC#11 as breath data then a lot of the sounds in Garageband will respond! You can set this up using whichever application Akai has provided with your EWI.

I have a problem with record music on EWI5000. When im turn on my AWI on Reaper for example, then EWI 5000 Editor.dll VST Plugin showing some strange windows with to Update your Service Pack 1 on your Windows(I have no windows XP so it's sounds like its not a point.) Why it's not working? Reaper see my EWI and is able to record someting, but without this plugin it's only piano sounds. You know how to fix it?

The EWI 5000 editor is not compatible with DAWs, including Reaper. Try using one of the sounds I talk about in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fneolXWQfNt5bqs

Which MIDI channel are the breaths put on?

hey great question! It's actually not on a channel, but rather on something called CC. CC stands for continuous controller, and there are 128 of them per MIDI channel. Breath is traditionally CC#2 on whatever MIDI channel you happen to be using. Sorry, but it's really irritating when a 'teacher' jumps into the middle of the topic instead of starting at the beginning. You're talking about 'glide' when you should be talking about which DAWs to use and how to plug in the EWI to the computer. Then you talk about Garage Band, as if your audience are all using Apple devices! We are not.
