Clare!!!! After watching your video, I did the flare to straddle inversion today at CCC!!!! Super stoked!!! Your video made it click in my mind, better than the other lesson I had which confused my body during spinning. Thank youuuuu!

you are absolutely incredible! Do you have any specific ways to spin, does it require a special lyra or is it just any in general?

Thank you so much for your lovely words! Don't worry, it doesn't require a special lyra... you just need a little piece of connecting kit called a 'swivel' to rig the lyra - it's a connecting piece either between the lyra tab and the strop (using carabiners), or between one strop and another (again, using carabiners...). It allows the whole lot to spin without friction. Hope that helps! Good luck

How do you build up strength in you're arms/shoulders and abs and legs outside of hoop class.

Best way is to either get yourself a pull-up bar for at home (or gymnastic rings if you have somewhere you can attach them to, in a garage or in the garden for example). But if not, then I always tell my students to get themselves to a kids playground - there are usually loads of different bars/ heights for building up pulling strength! Check out 'Conditioning exercises on the Aerial Hoop/ Lyra' video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/imXOc5erd8x4nJI) for ideas on specific drills - most of them can be adapted to the playground :-) Good luck!

What is the thing called that makes the hoop spin?

Hi Olivia, thanks for your question! It’s called a ‘swivel’ 😊
