Taking Bible notes is one of the most effective ways to engage with the Bible and with God in a meaningful way for your Christian walk. You can be totally random about it but being intentional with your Bible study notes will help you get organized and will make more sense to you when revisiting that portion of Scripture in your Bible. In part 2 of my Bible note taking system series I discuss 3 types of Bible note taking methods. See below for the link to watch part 1.

What kind of Bible note taking system are you drawn to? Do you like notes in your Bible or do you like to keep your Bible a bit more pristine?

I went through so many bibles bible journey journaling my notes And putting them in the wide margins and color coding my bible I did all the things And then I got to the point where I just didn't want to pick up my bible just because it felt like there was nothing left to do with it or if it felt cluttered. So I bought a new clean bible I do not mark in the Bible but all my notes are in a journal with color coding.

Thanks for sharing that as that's one of the "dangers" of Bible journaling inside of your Bible. I actually talk about that in my video on 8 things to consider before you start Bible journaling. It's also one of the reasons why I use a some-what hybrid method. Thanks for watching!

I’m an “all in one place” kind of gal. The big disadvantage I see to using journals is that eventually you’ll have multiple notes spread across multiple journals, and if you’re reading your Bible somewhere and don’t have your journals with you then you can’t access your notes.

Yes that's definitely a problem and is a good reason to use a journaling Bible that can house all your notes. That's why I use a hybrid system. No I don't have access to all my notes but I do still have quite a few in my Bible. Thanks for watching and sharing!

I've made some notes in my journaling bible - and looking back I wish I had a note where I got the thought - such as a sermon and date. I keep it very simple, just a few words. Seeking some kind of journal system, enjoyed your video.

Yeah I know what that's like too because before I honed my system I had done the same thing in a previous Bible. Thanks for watching and sharing!

Do you mind showing a video of your hybrid system? I'm a visual learner and would like to see how you put notes in your Bible and notes in your journal. What does your Bible code look like that you created for your journal? Do you engage your journal just as much as your Bible? Thanks for considering my request. Be blessed always.

If you feel yr notes are old just write new ones. And if possible, do date yr notes. Then you can come back and reflect over where you were i yr faith journey at that time. This will be easier if you use a dated planner.

I am sort of a hybrid person, but I do everything on my iPad so the extra “journal" pages are right there as extra pages at the end of the book or chapter. I created my own interactive digital bible and have tweaked it over the last year or so. Hopefully, someday I will give it a tweak and go "eureka, this is it".

Wow 😍 That is amazing. Lots of work doing something like that. I don't know that I'm ever completely satisfied with my systems and journals and if I am it doesn't last 😆. So it is with the creative mind. Thanks so much for watching and sharing that ♥️

Nancy I’m all notes person and scrapbooking paper taped washi tape together and fold it up with several pages. Pretty paper and back is white but my Bible is chunky monkey God loves me for do this. I’m reading and studying his word daily for hours same days. Take notes on tracing paper also. I got more notes than a pastor or commentary has LOL.

Sounds awesome! I love looking at videos and Pinterest posts of Bibles and journals like that. But it doesn't quite work for me that well. So I'm at a happy medium. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊

I used to take notes in my Bible, but it bored me so I’m just going back to doing a notebook 📓 and how I used to read the Bible, and take notes in my Bible :)

Thank you so much for your series!!! I am literally in the process of creating my bible marking system and your video series is so timely! I decided on the hybrid system because of how you shared the specifics of the all in one journaling system and the minimal system. I was thinking about those pros and cons on my own, but you confirmed that they actually happen because you tried them. You have also helped me to stop undermining my process of developing my system. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and tips. You have been extremely helpful to me. I'm happy and thankful to be a subscriber.

Thank you Nancy for talking about these different systems. I have always just wrote in the margins of my Bible & the unfortunately I have put all long in depth studies in different notebooks or scraps of paper with no organization. Also, my Bibles get over cluttered with notes in the margins & underlinings (which I love to do because it helps me see very key passages at a glance), then I end up getting a new clean Bible & start over, sometimes in a different translation just to change it up. So, I think I will try a hybrid system - I just need to figure out how I’m going to code it.

I would prefer to have my notes in my Bible….but there are pages in my Bible that are cluttered which I don’t care for. I really like lists. Just trying to figure it out. Great video. You really put time into it. TFS

Thank you for this video! I just started using a wide margin Bible, and I implement a hybrid system as well in my wide margin, and my older journaling Bible. I write codes for my longer thoughts, sermon notes, or notes from seminary. I also like to write in questions inside my Bible, and I have a second notebook for this, where if I found some possible answers I mark in the margin ?001, and write out the question and answers. I tend to ask a lot of questions while I study scripture, and it’s nice to have a second notebook dedicated to my curiosity of God’s Word. Thank you for this video!

That's a great idea for coding questions. I find myself asking a lot of questions too and never thought to record it as a question. Thanks for watching!

Hello Nancy, I have been struggling to figure what my process will be for notes. I don't want my bible to be come confusing or messy. I didn't want to use actual journals, but I think I have decided to use a mini binder to reference to, using the miscellaneous method. I have enjoyed your videos. Plus the fact that I don't have a budget for a new bible helps stear me in this direction.
@HisAncientWays

That sounds like a great solution. I love the practicality of using binders to organize stuff. I'm not in love with writing in them though. But I don't generally use a desk to study and read - if I did then I would write on the paper and then store them in binders. It's a really great budget solution and there's a lot of flexibility with binders too. Thanks for sharing as I'm sure others would appreciate that solution as well!
