Gerald, thank you for the comment. Yes all across the US and the world there is a huge need for men to step up and lead their families. There has been a small wave of men's studies over the past few years, but we need male leaders in the church that will volunteer to lead men's nights, men's study groups and talk sessions to equip men for the world. Women are amazing, but some problems and questions will only be understood by another man. God Bless you Gerald and I'll see if I can put together a Men's study. Anything specific that would be helpful?

Im new to the faith, I just bought 2 bibles, A NIV study bible and a mans bible, Yet im still finding it difficult on how to go about it. So far im reading through it and highlighting passages that stand out to me. Id really like to know more about how to go about reading the whole thing. It’s overwhelming and then I really don’t know where to start. So thank you for this! It has answered a few questions of mine. If in the future a video on how to be a better man in the faith, how to lead your home and all of that. Thats one thing I struggle with to! Thank you!

The way I study, is I have a 30 or so commentaries for the entire Bible, I have another sec of commentaries for genesis, job, proverbs, Isaiah, and revelation, and I have another book of commentaries for the entire Bible in 1, I also have E-Sword which is on the computer, it has commentaries, maps, timelines, other books of any sort biblically, notes, and other versions of the Bible, and many other things, like strongs. Up until recently I’ve been using these commentaries, I’ve already for Roman’s 6-8 finished and John 1 finished, and in the past I did a commentary for Roman’s 1,3-5. So I get a notebook read the commentaries see if they align with the Bible, and I write down a commentary verse by verse, I write it in a way I will understand and easy access, and for info on the chapters I usually look up the date it was written, who it was written to, why it was written, where it was written, the topic of the book or chapter, a breakdown for each section in the book, and the main theme, for example, i know that acts 15 was about a meeting with Paul, Barbara’s, Peter, James, and other highly respected respected Christian’s, discussing the matter wether to follow the law and become Jews to become saved, or be saved by faith, which is what Paul his friend Peter were discussing, I know that James was the leader of the church in Jerusalem and he made a highly respected claim that Paul was right and that it is by faith, and that the law is here to reveal our sins, but to the gentile church the gentile Christian’s should still try to follow certain aspects of the law given in acts 15:20, mainly to not offend the Jews. I got this just by reading 1 link on goggle, it was a pretty good link, and my pastor who happens to be my papa is also teaching the subject. So get s notebook, use a commentary, I recommend verse by verse, make sure it’s biblical, not everyone is reliable, I also recommend listening to sermons from sermon index on KZbin. There are many other ways to study the Bible and many other tools, but those are the basics

I’m not going to bash you for using another translation, but you should read the KJV, yea some of the words can be difficult to understand, but rely on the Holy Spirit and he will reveal to you his word, other translations take out verses and remove important words, it is unreliable, and is open to false doctrines

I appreciate your input on versions, but KJV isn't the end all be all. Other translations can actually more accurate than it because of it being written in the 1600 they had not found the dead sea scrolls yet. The KJV actually has verses in it that were more cultural than biblical like John 5:4 talking about an Angel stirring up the waters, which did not happen, but was local lore. All translations I read do not remove verses they are still in there, but they place them in the footnotes because as we found in the dead sea scrolls, older than what the King was using, they did not include those verses. I'd encourage you to explore other translations because it sounds like you got a great study routine. Andy you would probably gain a lot from that. God Bless!

Hey Charles thanks for the question. When I started there were no podcasts was just "radio preachers" so to speak and my grandfather, also a preacher. But the past years that podcasts and KZbin have gotten popular my two go to are Rick Burgess and Phil Robertson. They both have great testimonies. Rick has a once a week mens bible study on podcast or KZbin and Phil has the podcast Unashamed. Rick's is more bible learning where Phil's is just world views interviews and bible verses talked about to relate to the things they are talking about. Hope this helps. God Bless.

Justin thanks for the comment! I have heard of the Humble Lamb I'd like to have one. I may need a video for the commentaries, but my main 4 are Nelson KJV Bible commentary, The Bible Knowledge Commentary NewTestament Editors John F. Walvoord and Roy B Zuck (NIV) I also have almost a complete volume of Layman's Bible Book Commentary. I was very blessed that after my grandfather passed I was able to inherit his entire 30+ years of bibles and bible books/commentaries collections. All of these can be found on Amazon. A free commentary that I've used a lot is biblehub.com, lots of commentary, translations, Greek or Hebrew depending on New or Old Test. and even parallel or different translations. I also like to read a lot of the editors notes on the bibles I use either my David Jeremiah study bible or my Nelson KJV study bible. Lots of maps and comments and cross references. Hope that helps God Bless!

I’m looking to start a men’s Bible study for men in their retirement years. Do you have recommendations of books I can check out? I’m 66 and in retirement years we face a unique set of circumstances. We’re in our chapter of life where we have made lots of mistakes, not lived up to what we thought we could when we were in our 30’s, 40’s etc. I liked your video and will incorporate your ideas. Great question. We haven’t started yet. I’m praying God allows us to start in September ‘23. The study/ministry will be primarily for retired men as we face some challenges as we turn the corner moving into the “twilight” years of our senior youth. I’m looking for a book or books that I can read that will help guide us down this path. If we have 4 men join and each is 60 years old that’s 240 years of life experiences. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

It’s a 4 part study. It’s not focused directly on men’s studies it’s more about abiding in Christ how to grow in the word and let God be the master of your life which sounds like what your looking for. But If your looking for a study focused on men then the How to be a man series by Andy Blanks is excellent and the warrior series. I think I link to both of those in this video description. If not let me know I’ll get a link for you.

Irizarry thanks for the comment! Sorry was away for a few days. I have never used an amplified Bible, but you being new I would recommend using something like an ESV or New King James or even NIV. From what I’ve read there can be some problems with the word interpretations and correct use in context with the words in parentheses in the AMP. I would get a great study Bible, version of any of the ones I listed and use the Bible hub app for word translation if you wanted to know Hebrew or Greek translation! God Bless!

From what I’ve researched it seems some of the translations from Hebrew or Greek to English do not take into account context of the surrounding verses. I would just recommend that you do some digging before purchasing making sure that the translations don’t lead to any confusion on what the verses are saying. I’ve linked a great article from a site I use a lot when researching. www.gotquestions.org/Amplified-Bible-AMP.html

For those who think of themselves as Christians - Jesus said "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. " Anybody want to venture what similar works that they have done? (And just preaching doesn't count as "works")

Darz you're right on with doing works. James 2:26. Doing work is different for different individuals because we all have different gifts, but we need to spread the gospel, help those in need and love each other as Christ commanded. God Bless!

@darz3829 8 ай бұрын
@@Lift4Him The quote is from John 14: 12-18. Jesus said "the works that I do shall he do also" meaning that the wonderous miracles are the same. As I mentioned just preaching (spreading the gospel) can be done by anyone without God's help. Same with helping those in need and loving each other. Put another way, if the bible didn't have miraculous accomplishments it would be just a book. So how many ordinary folks are doing those works as Jesus commanded? So far, no one has responded.
@Lift4Him
@Lift4Him 8 ай бұрын
I understand your question now. We can go down a long rabbit hole and totally break down that verse if I had enough room in the comments section. I think you're looking for a reason why we don’t see Christians everywhere performing miracles nowadays like Jesus says in John 14: 12-18. The simple answer is because that quote from Jesus was directed at his disciples/apostles not to everyone that accepts Christ. At this point in John they were eating the last supper and Jesus was setting the stage, so to speak, for them because Judas was about to betray Him and he was about to be Crucified. We can see the miracles the disciples/apostles performed throughout Acts like Acts 5:15, I’d encourage you to read verses 12-16, Acts 9: 32, Acts 9: 36-43 raising Dorcas from the dead, or Acts 19: 11-20. Also I don’t believe we could spread the gospel without God’s help. Long connection, but If God didn’t send Jesus he wouldn’t have died, we wouldn’t get the Holy Spirit, we aren’t saved, we don’t spread the Gospel. Because unsaved people don’t try to populate heaven. Going back to John 14:12 I’d encourage you, and you may have, to read the bible in context not as individual verses or chapters. Sometimes we have to read an entire chapter to see what's going on. I could pull out one verse like Genesis 17:6, I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. Kings never came from me and I have a covenant with God, but God is talking specifically to Abraham in this passage. Or the always twisted Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that you be not judged. It doesn't say never to judge people or really call out your christian brothers and sisters if they are sinning. If you read all the way through verse 5 you see that if we judge or call out a brother or sister for something we better make dang sure our lives are clean and we don't have a “log” or sin in our own lives. I hope all this helped you and I hope I answered your question. You can always email me if you have any others. God Bless.
