Putting partisanship aside, the church needs to address issues like abortion, normalization of LGBTQ lifestyle and gender confusion, religious freedom, etc. If we were to view each issue through a Biblical lens, it would be clear on how we should vote. Furthermore, we need to have honest and truthful debate about racism. It’s interesting that contemporary pastors like Skye talk about how as Christians we don’t align we either party, yet more often than not, it’s apparent that they are left-leaning.

There are only two commandments. Putting all partisanship aside, the church needs to address issues like love God with all your mind, heart and soul and your neighbor as yourself. If we practiced that all the rest will take care of itself, through the power of God’s Holy Spirit working through our transformed hearts, others would then believe in our message and desire to join us. It’s the work of the Holy Spirit to convict, sanctify and make holy, through people who reflect his image. “If you love those who only love you what reward do you have. Why do you see the speck that is in your brothers eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye” - Jesus

Since God said to be good custodians of the planet climate change might better have been brought forward by religious leaders.

Hmm, politics are a pretty divisive topic - I think that's why it's not "brought into the church". Shouldn't teaching the Word and the Gospel thereof, be the focus? Understanding of the Bible itself, and an emphasis that it effects all parts of our life, does cover it, no?

The argument Skye presents at 12:00 is a cute piece of sophistry on appearances, although it may not be intended. Soldiers and tax collectors are civil servants, not Government, or lawmakers. These are ordinary people who are working for the state and are invested with specific power by the state. John is telling them to stay within their authority and to not go beyond it. Not to abuse their power and become dishonest and untruthful. This is about the spirit of the Kingdom of God as it affects the individual. This is about truthfulness and honesty and not preying on the weak. Gods' spirit changes the world one person at a time, or not. Law and a penal system doesn't change hearts that is the work of the Holy Spirit. A man convinced against his will is not convinced at all. When ever John the Baptist, Jesus, or Paul talked to rulers it was always about personal behavior relevant to the Kingdom of God, the character and nature of God. Christianity is about the conversion of the heart, to be, the same as their own, on every level, done by the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. For the benefit of our self and neighbor. Jesus was giving sound "political" advice as well as spiritual advice when he told the Jews to render unto Cesar the things that are Cesar's, and in Matt.5:39-41 where he was telling them to not get all bent and twisted when things weren't to their liking. Had the Jews understood the message they wouldn't have got their temple and city destroyed and themselves. As Jesus said, "How oft would I have gathered you to myself, as a hen gathers her chicks, but you would not."

*CHRISTIANS are NEUTRAL in POLITICS:* True worshippers are no part of the world. When on trial before the Roman ruler Pilate, Jesus said: “My Kingdom is no part of this world.” (John 18:36) No matter what country they live in, Jesus’ true followers are subjects of his heavenly Kingdom and thus maintain strict neutrality in the world’s political affairs. They take no part in its conflicts. However, God's worshippers do not interfere with what others choose to do about joining a political party, running for office, or voting. And while God’s true worshippers are neutral regarding politics, they are law-abiding. Why? Because God’s Word commands them to “be in subjection” to the governmental “superior authorities.” (Romans 13:1) Where there is a conflict between what God requires and what a political system requires, true worshippers follow the example of the apostles, who said: “We must obey God as ruler rather than men.”-Acts 5:29; Mark 12:17. Jesus’ true followers preach that God’s Kingdom is mankind’s only hope. Jesus foretold: “This good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14) Instead of encouraging people to look to human rulers to solve their problems, true followers of Jesus Christ proclaim God’s heavenly Kingdom as the only hope for mankind. (Psalm 146:3) Jesus taught us to pray for that perfect government when he said: “Let your Kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth.” (Matthew 6:10) God’s Word foretold that this heavenly Kingdom “will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms [now existing], and it alone will stand forever.”-Daniel 2:44; Revelation 16:14; 19:19-21. On the basis of what we have just considered, ask yourself: ‘What religious group bases all its teachings on the Bible and makes known God's name? What group practices godly love, exercises faith in Jesus, is no part of the world, and proclaims that God’s Kingdom is the only real hope for mankind? What religious group routinely & publicly teaches the Kingdom door to door, city to city, earth-wide? Of all the religious groups on earth, which one meets all these requirements?’ The facts clearly show that it is Jehovah’s Witnesses.-Read Isaiah 43:10-12. www.JW.org

Skye-- Perhaps you did not know (or have forgotten) that there were valid, non-racist reasons for questioning MLK's crusade: his womanizing, his advocacy against the War in Vietnam, his acceptance of some aspects of communism. My father didn't like him because of his hypocrisy. Everywhere that MLK went peacefully, violence inevitably followed. MLK knew it and did nothing about it. I think what he did was noble and laudable, but it was not without its downside. It's similar today where peaceful protests are marred by riots. Where Antifa and BLM are praised despite their ungodly origins and methods and policies. The problem with kneeling for the flag is that it causes RIGHTEOUS anger. Protests are productive when they point out unrighteousness in a respectful manner. You wouldn't support a white group who protested black on white crime by toppling a statue of MLK, would you? It certainly would cause the anger that you say protest is all about. But it would do so counter-productively.

Not once did you mention concern for the injustice black people suffer. Where is the love for your neighbor (blacks) as yourself.

@@promomail1768 We are in desperate need of a truthful and factual conversation about systemic racism in the US. Peel the layers back and one will find that the common narratives in culture about this topic are untrue. As Christians, we called to be heralds of truth.
