3 Years Later, IS BIOMUTANT FINALLY FIXED?

Several underrated titles have been released throughout the years, some deserving more appreciation than others after numerous updates and fixes. However, there's also the curious case of Experiment 101's Biomutant.
Hyped as offering an open world with action RPG combat, from third-person shooting to Wung-Fu melee, it also features a system that influenced the story, a loot system, vehicles and much more. The sheer scale was impressive, but upon release, Biomutant felt like it lagged in almost every single metric. Between the bland open world, boring story, uninteresting gameplay and ridiculous characters, it just didn't click.
Not that this stopped Biomutant from achieving success, however. With the Switch version and numerous updates over the years, has it improved? Are there reasons to revisit it? Check out our thoughts to learn more.

A perfectly fine, AA experience! This game, after that first big patch, was a solid A-/B+ experience for me. Highly recommended!

I honestly enjoyed TF out of Biomutant! Could they have improved on a lot of areas in the game?! Of course, but overall it was a fun and mindless game with a beautiful World. 😊

Have to say I never found the narrator annoying, but to each their own; good to have options for those who didn't warm to it. Starting to think some very vocal people are generally moving away from liking most voicework when it's not entirely coming from the main character in action games (SM Wonder's flowers, for example). Might just be my very subjecting perception, though.

No, people just don't like constant chatter. They did the same thing recently for Dragons Dogma 2, reduced how often the pawns would say random things because they otherwise would sometimes be none stop meaningless chatter.

It definitely had some rough edges but I had fun with it. The biggest problem with the game was that it tried to do wayyy to many things and becuase of that, the good things ended up suffering to some extent. But overall I found the game fun

Bought the game day one on ps4, placed my pre ordered about 2 years before that on amazon. Played over 100 hours, and the only thing I was disappointed about was the lack of a real ending. Game is so much fun and you can tell how much love was put into it, just don't expect much of an ending, at least when I beat it 3 years ago on the ps4.

I didn't really know it needed fixing in any of the ways this video posed. I found a lot to like in the game. My main issue with it was that the green messaging got a bit much for me after a while. Less preaching in the lore and I'd like to think I'd have finished it several times over. Maybe platted it if the trophies were friendly enough for that.

I didn't get into this until after the final patch and I liked it. It isn't a revolutionary game, but I also remember when the first Assassin's Creed launched. It basically felt the same to me. It's a good foundation for a franchise, but for a sequel they're going to need to keep what works and focus on the weaknesses.

I pre-ordered this game, tried it at launch and gave up 2-3 hours in. Playing it on my steam deck right now and im loving it. 1156x720p with FSR is a constant 60fps.

Anybody running this on switch? For some reason when I start the game up, the opening credits play sound, but I have a black screen. But if I press start it takes me to the main menu to start the game fine

I really liked this game, the options were nice, and I liked how the skills and character creation was where you chose your resistances, strengths, weaknesses, and how it affected how your character looked was really fun, the combos were hard to remember but were interesting to master, this game was great to me.

My biggest issue was over phy powers because if you wanted them to have a chance of scaling you had to go all in on very point pretty much on phy powers

I would buy this on sale...its 40 on the switch and its not crazy to think they wont offer a %50 discount before the year ends especially if it is not selling well. It looks like it has a some cool ideas in it that is worth it for that price for sure.

A great concept and it works well, the patch really helps, its different and the setting is brilliantly unique, which should appeal to the large variety of "blade" combat games being released. On the go with the switch is great too in mobile if you can afford both Great channel guys Thanks for making consistently great vids

I was so freaking excited for this game. cute but ferocious little critters who are in a civil war during a weird post apocalypses setting with swords and guns? The combat looks smooth and responsive. Optional dialogue and factions? And it's an open world RPG? Lets go!... A few hours in I put the game down and never played it again. The game was so unpolished and just a mess. My last straw was a main story quest bugged out on me and I could not progress. I was just stuck in this loop. Hope the game is worth revisiting after these years.

Biomutant didn't need fixing. It was a simple story in and u played as a freaking adorable animal in a world where everyone talks gibberish. So what did you expect, another last of us? Map couldve been smaller though. It looks even better now on ps5 version. I recommend it to anyone looking for a chill action adventure.

Such a shame. I bought it, but I've never been able to get past the first few hours before losing interest. I love the large monster designs so much, but they're so distinct that whoever designed them probably couldn't repeat the style at a new employer without getting a lawsuit (which is ridiculous considering the way you could go from job to job repeating the same tired default styles without problems). For me to ever see these designs again, Biomutant needed to become an established brand but of course that will never happen.

This is a really good childrens game. I played it as an adult and in hindsight the most i would have paid for this is $10. It has boring repetitive gameplay and it is extremely easy. The art style and world are beautiful, but as i said the overall gameplay seems to be have made for a young child. Do not buy this unless you have a kid to share it with, it is a very underwhelming game

I liked the actor who did it a lot, but I could only stomach the narration so much. I wished it was more wry or tongue in cheek, it felt kind of like a child’s eco story though, kinda put me off a bit. But now that you can turn him off maybe I’ll give it another try

I think I got this game for less than $10, probably Black Friday sale. I tried it, and it seems okay, but I haven't played through it yet. The beginning is a bit annoying when they keep stopping the game every 2 minutes for tutorials and dialog. The narration kind of kills any immersion. It's too bad because it looks really good and the combat is okay, but as soon as you start getting into it and enjoying the experience, they stop you and talk and over explain everything and it's like, JUST LET ME PLAY THE GAME!

There wasn't anything wrong with this game. It isn't a great game, but it is a good game. I 100% this game and got all the achievements.
