The book digital minimalism opened my eyes to dopamine detox. He talks about how we dont give our selves enough time to ourselves to do nothing. We are constantly in an over load of information. We need time to do nothing and be able to just think and decompress. That is why it is good to remove the dopamine to fully relax.

Okay, this was my reminder, that I have to do a Dopamine Detox and start Growth Journaling again. A few weeks ago school ended, and because I spend all my days in front of the computer I started to notice, that I was kinda addicted to instant gratification and I try to avoid boredom, will rewatch your dopamine detox series and try to effectively implement it as a lifestyle

Doing dopamine detox isn't hard for me I guess . What is hard is not having serious problems like loneliness and personalized anxiety disorder for which this things are my coping mechanisms. Still I'm trying to do dopamine detox and also change my current environment.

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius (Gregory Hayes translation) is always a great book to start with. But even after reading many books on Stoicism. It's still my absolute favorite and read a page everyday. Ryan Holiday has a lot of books that distill a lot of Stoic knowledge over the centuries into digestible ways as well. He runs the Daily Stoic KZbin channel that gives you snippets too. Best of luck!

The dopamine detox did nothing for me. I was planning on doing it for a week, but after 3 full days, I realized that no matter how bored I was, I'd still rather stare blankly at a wall over doing work. Still haven't figured out how to fix my situation. It was incredibly easy for me to cut out all short action dopamine triggers, but all I ended up with was being more miserable as I was just incredibly bored.

The fact is that dopamine detox needs to become a lifestyle, not just an activity you do every once in a while. During the detox you should be trying to convince yourself that you need to get dopamine from pursuing productive, meaningful work and dis-incentivizing the pursuit of things that give you instant gratification, like social media and video games and porn. Because that's the thing - you get dopamine in the pursuit of a reward, not when you have achieved the goal. Therefore, doing a detox may make your addiction worse if all you ever think about during the detox is the time when you will soon be reuinted with your addictions. I will re-iterate - this is a lifestyle change and a mindset problem. The fact is that you will only change if you actually want to change. You have to manifest your own reality and define your own destiny, not let yourself be imprisoned by instant gratification and the opinions of others. The only way to overcome your addictions is to believe and have faith that becoming more productive will make you a happier person and give meaning to your life. And trust me, it will. As the Proverb says "A little folding of the hands leads to poverty", so you must convince yourself that taking a break is worth it. I wouldn't recommend going cold turkey, but take more and more breaks until eventually you no longer feel compelled to pursue your addictions. Rather, feel compelled to live a life of meaningful productivity. Change the world, make someone happy, take care of a family. Anything to take the focus off of yourself and onto others.

nothing is going to happen in three days, esp if you don't have a rigid plan/ and schedule which will make you do your work instead of daydreaming. Keep it up for a lot longer, and you will start to see results. Also, make the detox more sustainable. The point is to allow your concentration levels to build up, but you can still take breaks and still make progress because the main issue is when people constantly switch from non focused to focused states. You should allow yourself time for social media e.g. from 4-6pm for example. This idea of building up concentration and focus (and enjoying your work) comes from deep work. Its a good read if you haven't already

You're not retired. I remember having an online business at 21 and being so foolish like you to say "I'm retired", when you're making videos and working. You are not retired, you could not survive off what you have invested and saved right now for a lifetime. Stop saying you're retired cause you're not even close to retired.

I have an issue with this video .I'm a fan of your channel, Andrew. A subscriber of yours from way back when. But I must point out regarding the part where you spoke about journaling and how people saw it is a "Dear Diary" thing. It sounded to me that you're using the word "Feminine" as a belittling label (3:46). I understand your work aims to be a positive contribution to your viewers (and I'm sure it has, speaking for myself) but this moment defeated that purpose. Especially considering that wisdom & moderation are considered to be two of the four stoic virtues. We're all humans. We all have our own perspectives and opinions. Language is imperfect. And expression can be misinterpreted. But from where I stand, it seemed that the way "feminine" was implied negatively. Which is unwise.

I never understand how KZbinRS are preaching to do a dopamine detox😂 also dopamine detox as a lifestyle makes even less sense. We aren't in 1462 anymore lmao. You're telling people how to get rich by maming money online, yet you want them to dopamine detox and quit phones and computers. How are you gonna make money online then? It doesn't make sense man... it's just hypocrite
