Eddy really enjoy your vids and your easy going style. As a viewer of many you tube vids on handloading some are in my opinion either too much (unnecessary) detail or just simply inaccurate information. But your are entertaining and informative. One comment on this particular video is there is no discussion of checking length and/or trimming prior to charging with powder.

Nice info. Tried a couple different automatic powder dispensers. I kept getting varying loads. I know it's way slower, but I now exclusively use my Lee safety scale. Used to have a Lyman equivalent but it didn't survive a move. To me, they're MUCH more reliable.

I loved your video and found it most informative! I’ve used IMR 4964 for years with both 165 and 180 gr Nosler Partitions. I have never used a Findl crimping die because with my bolt action 30’06 Winchester Model 70!it just wasn’t required! Maybe for a semi-auto this step nSight make sense.

I used to reload shotgun ammunition and enjoyed it. Unfortunately the skeet range I use now will not let me use reloaded ammunition. Apparently they cannot verify it's "pure" steel shot; yeah, they don't believe the magnet test. I enjoyed this rifle cartridge reload tutorial. It is different, yet quite familiar. Thank you

Hi Eddy! I'm 18 years old and I'm trying to get started in reloading for 30-06. I'd like to load heavier bullets like 175gr-190gr and would like to know what powders you would recommend for the heavier bullets. I'd like to find a powder that offers lower pressures and good accuracy. I'm getting into reloading so i can fine tune ammo for a specific gun and hopefully achieve the best accuracy i can get out of that particular rifle. Also I'm really enjoying your reloading video. Keep up the good work!

it's all about trial and error, and finding out what your rifle likes best. For my 30-06, I've had very good success with IMR 4350 and Varget Powders, with bullet weights between 168-180. Look at the Nosler site, they list powders and charges for all of their bullets for 30-06, and what powder was most accurate for what bullet at what charge. Always start low and work charges up. As he said, slow is fast.

Hi there, interesting to see how you reload, but I am amazed that you have all that kit, and you reload to book spec - SAAMI, not your individual rifle's chamber to the ogive.....? Any reason why you don't do this? You can get huge improvements this way to start........ Thanks, I like the format of your videos. AJ.

I get good results by using saami, not saying it good be better, but loading for public it is difficult to get them to bring there weapon, so back to SAAMI. Eddy
@kubotamaniac
@kubotamaniac 7 жыл бұрын
Good video! But I agree with AJ Wrighty, SAAMI is a guide, but usually, it is safer to measure our own rifle, to make sure the ogive does not touch the lands... And we get a little more accuracy by getting the bullet as close as possible to the lands...) Thanks for the nice video!!

I have a Shillen barrel and load my 30-06 with 59 grain of R22 175 gr Sierra MK HPBT .005 off lands Shoots 1/2 5 shot groups at 100 yds.
@Prairie7777
@Prairie7777 8 жыл бұрын
In speaking of case COL, do you ever measure out to the lands and then reduce from .003" to .005"? Of course making sure the cartridge operates smoothly in the magazine, I find that coming off the lands at .003" and neck sizing only, if affords a very concentric round to the axis of the bore. Have you done any of this type of loading?

I plan on testing some loads with 270 Win and 30-06. 130 Hornady SST for the 270 and 165gr SST for the 06. IMR 4064 and using mixed brass(after precisely trimming/resizing them of course). Let me know what kind of results you get from those A-MAX 178s, I'd love to see how they performed!

Eddie, i choosing 1st bolt action rifle, and i lean to 30-06, but many ppl suggest me 308. I plan to hunt some whitetails and hogs mostly in forest and sometimes on plains. Will buy Mauser M3, but still havent decide caliber. The only thing is bother me is accuracy. Why people say that 308 is 2 times accurate that 30-06 ? If i make load with same bullet but put more powder why accuracy affected ?
@offshorefisherman6935
@offshorefisherman6935 7 жыл бұрын
Andrey Tishenko get the 30 06, its awesome, its as accurate as the 308, and the 30 06 shoots harder and faster
@andya539
@andya539 7 жыл бұрын
That all depends on the shooter man ... both rounds can be extremely accurate in the right hands but I have also heard that .308 is more accurate especially at slightly longer distance it may have to do with 30-06 kicking harder so the shooter is more susceptible to flinching ... I for one shoot 30-06 but I didn't have a choice I was made an offer i couldn't refuse on a sako a7

Why do you need premium match bullets to hot hogs. I use TULA ammo with no problem's for the last 15 years I've used cheeper ammo or Aguila eagle 🦅 ammo Is better than Winchester white box. Winchester has not been good for me. I'v started to repack rounds in 308win my first year. I need more Dies to try other ammo to do repack rounds.

You’re crimping a bullet that doesn’t have a cannelure! Your COL should place the bullet close to the lands. That ammo is far from being “match grade”.

Nice video, but match grade? You resized, de-primed and re-primed in one step with LC brass! No one would shoot that in a match. I would Clean the brass, re-size & de-prime, then uniform the flash hole then trim the case then clean the cases one more time, the prime and reload. Then you can call the rounds match grade .
@timothyhines7845
@timothyhines7845 5 жыл бұрын
That would depend on whether or not the weapon was a bolt or semi auto fed weapon and in most cases, one's competency with the given weapon. There are rifles off the shelf that can win matches with surplus ammo and off the shelf weapons that couldn't hit a barn wall from the inside all doors closed. But yes the video was most likely abbreviated and steps left out for mention in another vid. As I said I use a balance beam as the electronic wizzos have failed me, the man still put out a good vid that would produce a round that was reliable and SAFE to use. COOL you do every step. Good job. Doesn't mean he's wrong( or that you are). He merely demonstrated the method he has found to be successful. Happy Shooting hope to see you on the range.
