Thank you for your video. Where I need help with is how do I apply the power for them? In other words, say for instance I have a house that I've fitted LEDs to, how (and what is) the power source I need to connect them to in order to illuminate them? If you have a video on this please point me to it. Thank you for your great videos; I always enjoy them.

Found this video really interesting. Just been sorting out my wiring for my points and signals. Got the points working but something wrong with the signals. Like the idea of lighting the coaches.
@DonegalDadRail4 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it. Are your signals wired to the points or operated by switchs?
@roystudds19444 жыл бұрын
Donegal Dad operated by switches. They did work for a while and sometimes flicker so I think there’s something wrong with the wiring but haven’t been able to work it out.
@DonegalDadRail4 жыл бұрын
Are leds? Are they wired from the same power supply?
@roystudds19444 жыл бұрын
Donegal Dad they are the Hornby colour light signals. I run them from my my Gaugemaster Model D controller using the 16 volt AC output as per the instructions.
@DonegalDadRail4 жыл бұрын
First thing is to test the controller output to make sure its working. But it sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Work back from the output to the signal to see where the issue is.

Hi Mark, great video. I have the same led lights as you, the ones with the clear plastic covering. How do you remove the cover to solder onto the copper? Do you just burn it away with the soldering iron or do you try and remove it with a knife? Thanks Steve
@DonegalDadRail2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve thank you, I usually use a craft knife to scrap away the insulation. I have another video on LED's coming out this Friday covering the use of some flashing LED's for different effects.

really useful, until now I've been a bit intimidated by electrics but this has limited my scenery, currently starting motorising points before scenery on a new layout inspired by the track plan at Donegal museum.

Don't be intimidated by the electrics, if you are stuck on anything I can always try to cover it in a future video.

@@DonegalDadRail thanks mark, appreciate that support, I know that once I get some experience it'll be fine. I'm fascinated by the Irish railway sytem's history, got lots of great books at the museum in August

Nice light tutorial Mark....what ohm resistor did you use for the 12v power source? Hopefully, I asked that question right 😊....Anthony
@DonegalDadRail4 жыл бұрын
It was 1Kohm resister, if the lights are to bright you can add another resistor in series.
