Helpful advice...put the box of memorabilia in the basement with all the other ones. That way you will have them all together in one place. You are doing a great job. I am going to miss this series when it is over.

Sophia! You have know idea how lucky you are to have so much storage area! We have a small coat closet in our hallway, a built-in set of drawers and shelves in one bedroom, and a small laundry room that used to house the furnace and water heater too, until we had them moved ( at great expense ) to the garage. That's it. No usable space in the attic. No nooks and crannies. No pantry. No basement. We have "stuff" everywhere! When I say stuff, I'm talking furniture stored in the unused guest bathroom. We want to use the bathroom, but it needs repairs and my husband and I are both great procrastinators. Furniture and miscellaneous items in our living room that don't belong there. First my oldest sister died. She had never been married. No kids, just lots of animals. She had had a business where she sold things she bought in Peru. Lots of jewelry, paintings, wall hangings, and clothing. So my parents, my other sister and I ended up with a lot of those things. After my mom died, we went through my parents house and helped my dad get rid of some things. More things we brought home. Then my husbands mom died, more stuff. Then my dad died, even more stuff. The parents were all from the Depression. Sooo much stuff. Plus our stuff, too. My sister and her husband were ok cause they had a 5,000, sq ft house. We, on the other hand, have an 1,800, sq ft house. It's so full you can hardly walk thru it and I don't know where to start. If I had areas to store things I would be so thrilled. You don't know how lucky you are. :)

Great job, Sophia! Love watching you and Scott interact, he always makes me laugh. Could you put up a wall in the attic that will allow you to attach your IKEA shelves to? Then you can store your luggage, shoes, purses, etc. on the shelves. By the way, I LOVE your Grandmothers purse!

Wow, you really zoomed through that attic! The photos of the kids in their Halloween costumes were so cute. The family photo if fantastic! Sophia Never ever complain about your husband Scotts silliness it's wonderful! My husband lost his sense of humor a long time ago. You're doing such a great job and it's nice that your husband is pitching in and giving a little help. Scott is a great cleaning companion, LOL. My husband likes to joke around too, so humor helps in many places. I had saved lot of clothes and things from my 2 boys (5 years & different seasons apart so lots of the clothes did not get used by the youngest one) as well, but when I consolidated before we moved (a looong time ago) I ended only keeping 1 baby outfit, I think it was their coming home outfit for each of them, with one special sweater or piece of clothes. When they each had their first babies ( actually gave it to them before birth) I gave what I saved to them along with their baby book (who keeps baby books anymore??) thinking they would compare their milestones with their child and I was hoping to at least "see" a photo of their son in the outfit... I am still waiting!! sigh... They have always asked me at least a few times... when they did such & such... I always say check your baby book, I don't remember that stuff anymore! Oh well, it was kind intentions anyway. Maybe when your boys are older you will pare down even more with their baby stuff. The toys you kept are the good wood kind that any new babies can & should play with for sure! I hope you are drinking lots of water to stay hydrated in that hot attic, we don"t want to see a Sofia fainting!! LOL. hugs - Faythe

personally for me watching these it looks like hoarding but I'm really a minimalist. You're doing so great at going through everything, I can really see a change I your mindset when it comes to stuff. It's been obvious at various stages that you've been overwhelmed and it's been very hard for you. It's always been hard for me to understand why people hold onto things but when you started to explain the emotional attachment to things I started to change my mind. Really really well done!!
@MarisaAndChew8 жыл бұрын
Defintely trying to not be negative in this cuz i am SOOO PROUD OF YOU for doing this!! YOu are such a hard worker i can't even begin to say how encouraged I am by you. BUT you did ask at the beginning if this was hoarding and after watching this series and all your other ones I think its NOT hoarding but more or less an addiction to things, or binging on things. I don't know how to word that so it doesnt sound horrible but I am just meaning it as when you want to organize the kitchen its all or nothing, you want to redo the bathroom its all or nothing, you did the clean with me series and you were hardcore on everything then and working your butt off sweating, then with this series we get to see the "stuff" more intimately and you have went all out on scrapbooking stuff, we see you have went all out on pens, you have went all out on previous projects like the quilting, the cross-stitch, crochet, etc. I find it really interesting since I am new to you in 2016 because there really is a lot of psychology in this. When you do something, you want to do it all, get as much as you can done so you can keep doing it all and then you move on to something else. In this video you said something like on weekends and evenings you are busy spending time as a family and going out and doing things and that cleaning hasn't been a priority and in my opinion THAT IS AWESOME!! You are giving your children and your family memories and beautiful experiences. The ISSUE seems to be with balance as like I said above you are all or nothing. I could really see you writing out a basic daily/weekly/monthly and seasonal scedule and it working amazing for you, allowing you to get things done without it being a "project" or "challenge" while still having plenty of time to spend with family and be flexible. Like I said, I am SUPER PROUD OF YOU. You are doing what most of us need to do and not just making it look good, but getting rid of the extra stuff too. I found you because I needed help being motivated and I have been extremely motivated by your videos and have implemented the "chore" list for myself and set up categories so I don't have to go into a cleaning frenzy. My house has not yet been purged BUT I am getting into a routine that allows me to take an extra 15 minutes or an hour or whatever when I am in the mood to sort a closet and do some work without it cutting into my day. I really hope you can find some balance and maybe put one of your planners to use as a SIMPLE household management binder that is flexible enough to allow for family time, and strict enough to prevent the need for massive overhauls!! Sorry for writing you a novel, again!! I just get super excited watching you!!

You're doing great! Lol . . Scott's cabaret! My hub pretended he'd got my decluttering detritus mixed up . . left the crap/recycling in the hallway and dumped the good stuff waiting to be relocated!
