I love how you refreshed that thrift store snowman!!! He would look great in my "snowman room"! Hubby and I went to our 'local' Goodwill yesterday. They have raised their prices to a minimum of $1.99, even on little items. Is that happening everywhere? I guess it's good I have a stash of things waiting for me!! Haha

Our thrift store prices here in Canada have gone way up...not such good deals anymore...especially since now anything that looks valuable, the workers google to see what it is n ew, and price accordingly...no treasure hunting anymore or great finds...
@Clovergirl79343 жыл бұрын
Yes! I had the same experience with one Goodwill I went to. Simple little nothings were priced at $1.99. Everything I picked up! I actually said something about the pricing. Should only be $.99. I went to another Goodwill and many things were still priced at $.99. It’s getting too overpriced and then they ask you to round up at checkout! Their whole inventory is free!!
@SD-nh5yr3 жыл бұрын
I know right...their prices are higher than new sometimes...I almost cant afford to shop at goodwill anymore 😥
@CandyB8433 жыл бұрын
I live in a rural city of South Carolina and my local Goodwill starting increasing prices earlier this year starting with that stupid $1.99 thing. I know in the area of this particular Goodwill the people who go here will not pay those type of prices for things. I noticed for about 3 months the prices were higher than usual. I actually stopped going for about 6 weeks or more because of it. The last time I went, which was about 2 weeks ago, the shelfs were full and most of the prices were great. A few of the items, I laughed at the price. I think they should just set a price range based on a group of items and not be allowed to Google and crap For example, glassware $1-$8, Frames $1-10 , etc and then the employee look at the item and price the item based based on if the item is in lower or higher end of the category.
@SD-nh5yr3 жыл бұрын
@@CandyB843 I live in Hampton roads...goodwill here price everything 2.25...3.25...4.25 etc..items from the dollar store broken, dirty are marked 2.25 and up...and this round up to help the mission is the icing on the cake...these are all donations and they receive government funding. If I say no to rounding up I get charity shamed. I do donate to thrift stores, but not them anymore.

Sherry, Love everything you made and so many beautiful things I cannot say I have a favorite but, my loves are snowmen. That last snowman you totally redid are my favorite snowman faces and bodies. They are the vintage style I love. I also love your wooden salt and pepper shake snowmen. About 8 years ago while driving home from work a woman was piling on her curb scrap lumber and other things. At the time I lived in a highrise apt and I had a very long balcony with 2 outlets. I did tons of woodworking projects out there even in the winter. On the pile were 3 long stair spindles already painted white. Immediately I knew I was going to make them into snowmen. Also in the pile was a long piece of baseboard painted white. I cut the baseboard into 3 sections and sanded the cut ends. On each piece I nailed a spindle in the middle to each. One spindle was split in the end so I kept that for myself. I made one for my sister's front porch and one for my brother's front porch and one for inside my living room. For the hat I cut down round dowel rods and used thin balsa type of wood for the small pieces of dowel to sit on and hot glued those to the top of the spindles and painted the hat black. I added berries and holly 3D stickers to the hat. I made a scarf out of fleece and fringed both ends. Eyes a And mouth were tiny buttons and a horn shaped orange bead(s) I had were the noses. From the fabric store I bought wooden star buttons from a Folklure Company and hot glued them down the front. They came out so cool and the wood was free and most of the embellishments I had on hand. This weekend I will go to my storage unit to get the snowman and a box of decorations and my red/black plaid lunchbox from 4th grade. 1973. I found it in my mom's basement when cleaning out her house last summer. I had looked for it for years and she always said, she was like grandma and never threw it out. I was so happy when I found it. I have been wanting to use it as a shadow box and make a wintery scene. I love all your old videos they are timeless just like all my old Christmas magazines. I am happy I had not seen this video yet as it has given me new ideas. Hey, if they is not rude to say, when I arrived at my mom's house one day and the one worker was taking out the old stove to take to the dump he left in the porch the 4 black iron gas stove burners. I grabbed them quick and put into my van as I am sentimental about them thinking of all the breakfasts my mom made for me when I was sick. For 5 months straight in 2016 she cooked every meal for me and brought all to my bedroom in a wooden tray. She sat in a rocker at the end of my bed and ate with me. I want to repaint them as sone have white marks on them from something such as scortch marks. I thought I could use them as trivets under plants not quite sure what to do with them. I wonder if you had any ideas. I do not know if you still see comments on older videos. You and Deidra are my favorite but I will also check out the other 2 gals you mentioned in this video. Have a super day. I am off to work now. Sorry for yer another novel, Rebekah in VA
