I have been living in Guatemala for 17 years. I have watched lots of youtuber videos on Guatemala. Somehow, I was often disappointed. Watching your video, made me so happy, it is amazing how you could capture Guatemala in such a brief stay. Love every second of it. You are true artists and your video shows how respectful, curious and loving you are both.

I'm guatemalan and I've been living at the lake for 8 years now... And as much as I love watching videos of this wonderful place, what I particularly loved about yours, is what makes it so different from the rest: The love, tenderness and respect that you have for eachother. You truly managed to transmit that feeling onto this video. Beautiful
What a beautifully created video, so simple, filled with calming scenery, no distractions and affectionate words and kisses between the two of you that allows us to enjoy it even that much more. I believe you will return there one day in the future, and will still together, what a remarkable video that would make both for you and all of us. You encourage us to make memories yet few could compare with yours. There's a saying I hear often, "live the life you love while loving the life you live", this would be the place to be doing exactly that. Sharing your lives with us has changed how so many of us are living ours, you've made love and kindness an everyday virtue again.

As a gay Guatemalan living abroad for many years now, this video brought tears of joy to my eyes. As other commenters have pointed out, you were able to capture the soul of Guatemala with respect and tenderness. Guatemala is a very spiritual land, full of mysticism, of wonder, of curiosity. And you can experience those qualities in its people, its food, its music, its way of life, its stunning landscapes like Lake Atitlan. I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay, felt welcome and didn’t want to leave. I do hope you return some day and visit more. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us in such a poetic and artful way. I cannot wait to see where life takes you next. Blessings to you both in all of your travels! ❤️🌈🇬🇹

Finally, a video from Bernardo's point of view. It was beautifully filmed, the scenery is breathtaking, and the narration is crisp and illuminating. We rarely hear Bernardo reveal so much of his inner feelings. Obviously, this turned out to be a "healing trip" for both of you. Adam looks like he's enjoying himself much more in the kitchen, and not letting problems get the best of him. I can definitely see the two of you returning to Guatemala sometime in the future, perhaps with a family of your own some day.

LR, thank you very much! I had a lot of emotions at this place and Adam and I were playing around with ideas for this video. It was healing for me to put my thoughts down and happy to see it translated in the video. I believe we will return to this special place and we will learn even more about ourselves. It's a magical place, we highly recommend it. Adam is enjoying himself in the kitchen more and I am now reaping the benefits from it. Happy Holidays to you.

Your observations were perfect, LR. It’s been always Adam who interacts with us. This time the job was handed to his husband and eternal boyfriend. I think Berno is kind of shy. But, dammit, he knows how to be severe and tough when uncomfortable, as he was with João Victor Braga’s comment on the video "Our Rough Week Moving - we're leaving the city life". He becomes a tiger; don’t mess with him.

Guys… My partner and I are both now 67. In 1976 when we were 22, We took buses from San Francisco through Mexico all the way to Guatemala. We spent 3 months there in bliss. Mostly on Atitlan and in Antigua, but also Chichicastenango for an incredible weekend market. It’s wonderful to see you two tracing the same steps. We stayed on a coffee plantation on the outskirts of Panajachel for $10 week. We slept on pinestraw mattresses with horsehair pillows, candles for light, outhouses and water pumps rather than faucets for our water. We’ve been to Guatemala many many times since then, including last year. We named our business after a little Mayan girl we met while there who was so poor we felt we needed to help her whole family. Your sense of awe was ours exactly, which is why we’ve been back so many times! Reach back if you’d like!

Meus irmãozinhos, isso é maravilhoso. From the first violin strain, I was drawn instantly into this world, and I think I didn't breathe for a full minute. The marriage of poetry and video, one illuminating the other, was exquisite. ("Energized, curious, and creative" perfectly described Adam's face and emotions in the next scene.) My heart melted when the children crowded around him, went out to Bernardo during the rare tour of his inner landscape, and soared as we flew over the mountains ... and as for your still shots, they are like artwork. Two adventurers finding their voices in the market and the kitchen, two hearts united against fear (and a spider), two foreigners - at home - in a lake at the edge of the world. Thank you for recording these steps, and inviting us to accompany you.

It was so good to see this video you posted. You two are amazing; your sincere, genuine love for each other is so obvious. This is the kind of video our world needs to see regularly. What a difference you make for me. I also enjoyed your personal reflections Barnardo. You are both very willing to share about who you are and what you experience within yourselves. That really endears you both to me. Thank you and may you continue to be blessed.

A+B, having waited eagerly to watch the video, I can say you have come through and produced the most amazing piece of art to share with us. Yes, it is art. The videography, editing, and soundtrack are polished and professional and just draw you in. You have created a piece that is all together absorbing, inspiring, peaceful, vibrant and evocative. A wonderful Christmas present to us all. When you do go back at a later stage in life (I say when because I'm sure you will), I hope that I have the privilege and joy still to be part of the STEPS family and to be able to share it with you. Love you guys ❤️ ❤️
