Of course, it should be noted that the wrong kind of fat and a high calorie diet is what can be bad for you. While a lot of high quality fat and animal protein diet; and in the meantime having less calories and minimizing carbohydrate and sugar intake should be good for you.

The Okinawans used to get 80% of their calories from sweet potatoes. The Samurai apparently at closer to 90% of calories from sweet potatoes. It’s mostly fiber and water by weight. They fill you up so you’ll eat fewer calories. They are also only about 8% protein by caloric volume, which helps keep cancer risk low.

If you left out the protein powder, it would be even more healthful. Too much protein is a killer! Just look up what too much protein does to your kidneys just for starters (never mind how it contributes to so many other nasty degenerative health conditions). We need very little protein if truth be told. Nobody ever died from not enough protein since there is protein in everything. Millions have died from too much.

Them I', likw, what can I do to add just a few carbs to my diet in hopes of eradicating this pain. Well out of the blue I thought I'm going to try Sweet Potatoes. Today I bought a couple, microwaved one and ate half of it after it cooled down. We'll see if this makes the pain subside some. I'm 68 yo man. 159 lbs (was 169, 8 weeks ago). 5'7". Boil sweet potatoes for 45 minutes and discard the water to limit your oxalate intake. Plus boiling in water is a good way to limit the amount of sugar conversion. Baking converts the most starch to sugar, boiling converts the least.

Fun fact if you cook and cool down the sweet potato, it becomes a resistant starch , so 30% if the carbs become indigestible, yielding less carbs per sweet potato, and providing your gut buddies more fiber that they crave to produce more butyrate

Also important to note: food sensitivities are SO highly personal. We all have unique microbiomes and biochemistry. If something repeatedly worsens IBS symptoms, it’s probably best to avoid (at least for a while). Eggs and apples are two foods that don’t work well for me, but are staples in other people’s healthy diets. What’s healthy for one person, can be inflammatory for another. :)

I’m trying to find out the best diet for me. Doable, affordable and most healthy. I’m trying to skip grains like tortillas, bread and rice and replace so I’ll try to just have half a sweet potato as the base. I watched a lot of your videos, thank you for putting them up here 🙏🏼

I’m really confused. I thought a high fat diet such as Keto was supposed to reduce inflammation and be great for your brain, but you just said that a high fat diet causes neuro inflammation and eating a sweet potato every day can help combat the inflammation from a high fat diet. Can you please clarify this for me? Thank you!
