Thanks Gareth this was really useful and interesting. What type of ADHD do you have? I’m 50 and have only last week been diagnosed as inattentive ADHD. You have explained all your observations perfectly - and i can only hope that when my Elvanse arrives (any day now) that i have as positive experience as you! you have described exactly what i want from the medication - all of the positives, and I’ll take those side effects over the others that you are warned about! Also.. i look forward to any fitness advice videos that you may publish in future - my gym membership hasn’t got me to the gym in three months :-D

Hey Scott! Thanks for the note, glad it was helpful. Best of luck with the recent diagnosis, and starting on medication; do check back in and let us know you get on in the first few weeks: it’d be great to hear about your unique journey. Personally, I was diagnosed blended type inattentive/impulsive. The ‘hyperactive’ dimension also presented but less strongly; though categorisation is still a debate in the literature! Happy to help on the fitness front; my own ADHD + training observations coming shortly! GC

Really well spoken mate, could be my new favourite channel. I'm speaking to my GP on Friday about getting a referral after taking the online test they sent over, I'll hopefully then use the right to choose scheme to get a diagnosis as I'm pretty sure I have inattentive adhd. I always thought my issues with focusing and starting tasks would ease after Uni (where I managed to semi blag it and do well - stress induced essays the day before etc) but it's continued into 'adult life' at work and personally I think. Gives me so much hope watching your videos, so thank you!

Appreciate the note Jake - really glad this has helped. I took a lot of comfort from hearing other people’s experience on the road to diagnosis/treatment too. What you say about uni is spot on; one of the best observations my psychiatrist made was that ADHD often only reveals itself as life gets less structured and more complex. Masking the symptoms at school and uni is one thing; doing it in your late 20s and 30s is a whole different ball game. Check back in and let us know how you get on with your journey. GC

Such a great video, thanks a lot! I was just diagnosed and prescribed Elvanse. I'm really scared to take it but your experience is kind of encouraging. :) At which dose did you start, if you don't mind me asking?

Ok, saw your comment under the one week video and you started with 30mg. I am supposed to start with 10 mg and have to split up a 20 mg.

No problem Jesse, glad it was encouraging! Totally normal to be apprehensive :) it’s all part of the process. As you noticed; I started on 30mg and titrated up to 50, where I’ve stayed since. Do check back in and let us know how you get on with those first few days/weeks on the 10mg dose. GC

You're very analytical. Brilliant video. Regarding the patience, i may say the same in my case. I'd say before i didn't care wasting time and now I'm more aware of how me and others use my time
