Try using mayonnaise instead of butter to grill your buns/bread. Just try making a grilled cheese with mayo on the bread instead of butter. It gives the bread a nice golden crust.

My husband got a new job Between the last one and this one, we went without a paycheck for 1 month. To avoid dipping into the emergency fund, we stuck to a 45 to 60 dollar budget for groceries. Lots of beans, rice and pasta supplemented with lots of cheap veggies like celery, green bell pepper, carrot and onions. (Oh, and our garden tomatoes and zucchini). After going through that, I honestly think it changed the way I'll shop for and cook food forever

tammyjones8102 Don't feel weird, Brooke has an amazing personality as do her kids. I was going through a terrible, terrible depression after my Pug died and I could hardly get off the couch or even shower. I live alone, and when I found her channel, it was a real positive to motivate me every day to get up, take a shower, get back into the world, and as a reward was watching her videos. She does make a difference, she helped me and I am so happy she is helping you too!

I’m by myself every other week when my husband works. I completely understand! I’ve been watching Brooke and being one of her “besties” since she started! She and her family including Aunt Vickie are wonderfully kind and caring! I religiously watch Dollar Tree Dinners too. Cooking the Books has a wonderful host Ana and she collects vintage cookbooks and cooks recipes from them. She has the most calming voice!

I love how you feed yourself, three men and a boy with such a small amount of meat. It looked like the most you used was a pound and some nights no meat. Thats awesome for a tight budget. Meat is the most expensive part of the meal. A lot of men think it’s not a meal unless they have a ton of meat on their plate. You’ve raised them right!

I am also very frugal and a creative cook who can envision dishes & meals from random ingredients. And like you, I have 3 sons. I love your realness, lack of pretension, & obvious devotion to your family . My favorite part of your shows is when your youngest predictably “passes out” from how good it is. So dramatic! And, he’s so like my youngest so I wonder if that type of personality comes from having 2 older brothers?

You can tell the boys have learned a lot from you! It’s good to see people teaching their children life skills. Somehow we’ve lost sight of that through the years. The reason that cheese makes such great sauce is because it has an emulsifier already in it. No need for a rue. On other hack, if you add water to cream or half and half it basically turns into a whole milk. Sometimes that’s a way to stretch a buck if you’re short on milk. You da best Brooke!! 💚
