Today on 27.12.18 the was a nice story about this song in the Daily Mail. The story said Ian hunter never got much praise for this song. I think he is a true super star. My all time HERO.

Just WOW! I knew that Barry Manilow sang this and fell in love with its tune and the lyrics were awesome to me at that time, the words spoke to me personally, but discovering that Ian Hunter (the writer of this song) had this recording which I am listening right now for the very first time today is just pure awesomeness and raw to the core. Spot on, I liked this original better I think!!! 🙂

I had a mallet in my right hand and a stick in my left.. Easier to do the cymbal rolls while still keeping the backbeat. Loved drumming on this song. We didn't play it out very often ..just once in awhile Ian would do it and say Barry Manilow is apparently a new fan with a smile.. since he had a top 40 hit with it. Played drums on When The Daylight Comes, also.
