Love this song since I first heard it in 79. Mick Ronson's guitar on this is sublimely dramatic and for me deserves to be far better known. This is like a classic Sam Peckinpah western in one song!

Yes, Mick made his guitar sound like the wind on the last chorus, if you heard it.

Since 1979, I've been hearing the lyrics: "My hand it was shaking, But this time it was taut... " Time to reprogram my brain. I had the pleasure of seeing Ian open the concert for Heart when he was touring the Schizophrenic album. Both bands were great, but IMO his band really rocked the Spectrum that night. And they performed more tunes than most supporting bands get to. One of life's great memories.

Wonderful! It would be even more wonderful if the pictures acknowledged the huge contribution of Mick Ronson to this piece of music. Thank you for posting.

Ronson's solo from 4:00 to 4:47 is so epic it blows my mind every time. OK guys like Page, Clapton, Beck, etc were all great in their own way, but really Ronson could make that guitar sing with emotion like few others could.

Or a great tune while they roll the final credits. Getting the whole song played instead of a verse or a few lines.

CORRECT LYRICS: The Outsider Ian Hunter Death be my mistress, guns be my wife Breath is my witness and roads are my life I just skinned my future as clean as a knife And bar on the way in L.A. The sun heats the saddle, sand in my hair Looking for water and there's sweat everywhere I know that I'm nearer I smell damp air And I ain't tasted coffee for days When the leaves are down I'll be southward bound Hunters haunt the Outsider. When the wind blows cold, when the sun grows old, Nothing holds the Outsider I just killed a man in a town called Nightfall I’m damned if I can't remember it all My hand it was shaking but his talk it was tall I paid for the funeral crew But it seems like I never reach Mexico They're heading me off every place that I go I'm sick of the fact that I've got to lay low What else can an Outsider do ? I know they're near to me, I don't have to see Just let me be the Outsider No they ain't far behind, I’m always on their minds They won't find the Outsider The Outsider When the leaves are down I'll be southward bound Hunter's haunt the outsider, yeah. When the wind blows cold, when the sun grows old, Nothing holds the Outsider. The Outsider. The Outsider. Songwriters: Ian Hunter

Added comment: In addition to Mick Ronson on the Guitar, Ellen Foley sings back up vocals. If you don't know who she is, she sang duet with Meatloaf 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light' and NOT that other godawful singer with the black curly hair. Her name escapes me, but who gives a rats ass about her.
@nocturnalmadness95174 жыл бұрын
The woman in Meatloaf's video is Carla DeVito. I don't know why Ellen Foley didn't take part in the video, maybe other commitments?

@@geoffreycarson2311 Ellen Foley is the Woman who actually sings the duet with Meatloaf on PBTDL". Carla DeVito's warbling is horrendous, she couldn't hold a candle to Ellen Foley.
