They should offer the best quality and KZbin should take care to tone it down to play on everyone's computer's. After watching one video in HDR you will feel sad to have to watch others without HDR... 60FPS is also very nice on the eyes

Do you disagree that my computer does not handle 1080p at 60fps - this is also a fact. Resolution is much more important than fps, but I have to drop it down to 720p. In addition, judging by your comment, I get the impression that you are one of those people for whom specifications are much more important than the very essence and usefulness of information.

Such an awesome video! When it comes to tap to click, I have personally found that physically clicking to be more efficient since I do not have to lift the finger off the trackpad. It seems very frivolous but for a designer who has to shift things around the art board constantly, I always have my fingers in constant contact with the trackpad and it really seems less work than lifting your finger, tap and hold just to drag something. Just my two cents. It's videos like these that make life so much easier for new MacOs users such as myself and the whole ecosystem all the more welcoming. I am very grateful.

Excellent tips!! I'm a lifelong Windows user who just pulled the trigger for an M1 MacBook Air.. To say that Macs are different from PCs is an understatement. I customized my MacOS extensively, but I wrote down at least 9 tips from this video that I'll be applying. And while we're at it, I'll share my favorite tips: 1) Karabiner - most excellent for remapping keys. 2) Magnet - allows you to customize how you interact with app windows. I used it to set up keyboard shortcuts to move a window to a certain part of the screen: left|right half or one of the quartiles, and so on.

@@SpiritTracker7 In what way? For me, it was simply that I wanted a very lightweight laptop with good battery life. The fanless design is just icing on the cake. In theory, I might do some programming or video editing on the M1A, but I already have a desktop for that. But when it comes to a lightweight portable laptop, I don't think the Windows world has a counterpart just yet. For example, I was very interested in the Microsoft Surface line, but their battery life isn't too great. Also, the M1 is priced pretty attractively. The "Apple tax" is barely there for now.

@@zeppelin0110 "Power user" being the key term. I generally don't like laptops to begin with but I've seen reviews where Adobe products aren't efficient and rendering videos for export is super slow. Rosetta 2 is a translation layer so that non-apple products work on macs. I also heard that Rosetta may be removed in certain regions with macOS 11.3 which means software that requires Rosetta will no longer run.

@@SpiritTracker7 It's very possible they'll remove support for it at some point to ensure (or rather, force) that all apps have native performance and stability. Regarding the performance of video editing/exporting, that should greatly depend on the app being used. In the benchmarks I saw, the M1 faired extremely well. But truthfully speaking, if I needed to do anything 'serious' and on-the-go, I would probably just use my old XPS 15 9550, which is now over 5 years old, but still kicking ass. I upgraded the SSD, so now the capacity is doubled and the speed is many times higher, as well. I also replaced the battery, so it went from around 2 hours to closer to 5. And it has the incredible compatibility that you can expect from Windows, as well as all my muscle memory and extensive customization of the OS. In the end, I feel that limiting yourself to just one OS/ecosystem is potentially a bad idea. I think that Windows and Mac are both great choices as a desktop OS, whereas Linux (in my humble opinion) is best kept in a server environment. For me, this MacBook is intended to serve a very narrow purpose (super lightweight device with ridiculous battery life) but it's been a lot of fun to compare how they've implemented everything compared to Windows and Linux. I find myself shaking my head disapprovingly at many things in OSX, but then I recall how many changes I make to Windows, as well. I say, if you love technology, why not give it all a fair try? Especially at this actually sensible pricing! Just my 2 cents.

@@zeppelin0110 lol, I am typing from a MacBook pro-2015... intel based. I am not a fan of M1, and as far as I am concerned they have years to go before I'll even consider it. Having been in IT for 25 years, I have used all of them... Linux for servers, windows for desktop and servers, and mac for playing around mostly lol.. I like how photoshop runs on a mac. I am fond of Mac Pros and own a few older ones. I still wouldn't mind getting like a 2012 12 core or 8 core spec'd out with 64GB of ram and an SSD... but I no longer have a lot of time to play anymore, 90% of my time is working and for that, I use an intel based windows desktop.

Returning to macOS after a few years away. Fortunately, your vid helped restore some of my faith. Straight outta the box my new MacBook Air has been a pain in the arse. But quite a few of these tips have brought back the functionality I remember.

One of the first things I do with the Dock is very similar to your setup. First, I strip almost everything off of it. Then, I move it to the right side. I find right better than left, because by default many apps hug the left edge on first open-which activates the Dock when you try to close the window! I also hide the Dock, turn on max magnification, and make the dock size as small as possible. This means that even if I accidentally activate it trying to get to drives & whatnot on the right hand side of the desktop, it's usually very small and I can still continue with whatever without the dock getting in the way. Finally, I actually create folders in my ~ directory that are for aliases to apps, grouped by what I find logical (social media, Internet, Productivity, Development, Entertainment, and so on), and add aliases from Applications into the proper folder, and then put those folders on the dock. I just find it much easier to locate most apps that I use a lot that way, and it keeps the Dock a lot less cluttered overall.

TIP: leave floating thumbnail for screenshots on, and have Yoink show in the lower righthand corner when you "drag." NOW, when you take a screenshot - immediately grab the floating thumbnail and drop the screenshot onto Yoink. Note: enabling 3 finger dragging messes with the 3 finger swipe up mission control. have to re configure again in track pad in system preferences.

That's not true. It's automatically changed to use 4 fingers swipe up mission control. When you enable 3 fingers dragging, everything that previously was a 3 fingers gesture becomes a 4 fingers gesture.

Very informative thx. I'm moving from Win 10 Pro to a macOS on an M1 14 Pro. I find macOS very dated and cartoon like with colors too similar to what I left on my 2005 PowerBook 13. It could be a deal breaker for me. It looks like a kids OS. Windows 10 Pro icons are clean and modern as well as highly customizable. Are there any options that change the look of macOS?

Great video, I like it, but I completely disagree with saving screenshots as JPG. JPG is good for photos but totaly not suitable for screenshots, because it blurs text and doesn’t like sharp edges in general. You should also compare file size withou shadow, becuase PNG doesn’t like gradients

No idea how you can enjoy the trackpad speed set to 9, If I breathe the cursor moves. 6 is a good sweet spot for me. Also, I bought yoink and airbuddy2 and I love them both!

TIP: leave floating thumbnail for screenshots on, and have Yoink show in the lower righthand corner when you "drag." NOW, when you take a screenshot - immediately grab the floating thumbnail and drop the screenshot onto Yoink. You now have immediate access to use your screenshot in whatever App or document you were going to use the screenshot for.

When I set up a Mac, I go to System Preferences > View > Organize Alphabetically. I also alphabetize items in the Dock. I select Space Gray Pro as my Desktop.
