Another great session Adrian, thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience. I definitely agree with you regarding simplicity and intention while improvising, and that's probably why I connect with your music as much as I do. Melody used to be at the center of all of those tunes we love, and for good reason. Incredible technique and speed is great, but it does not necessarily create meaningful music, and while it can "impress" an audience at first, it also becomes boring very quickly. Evan Christopher is definitely today's master of the style on clarinet, but you're right up there with him when it comes to carrying on the legacy of the greats.

Thanks for this wonderful comment, EVAN is the man !!

I've seen Adrian play live and he is the man ... the sound takes the room and people go to listen to his music and see him play.. there's very little chat as the audience are captivated by his dedication in bringing the authentic style of Clarinet to us in these modern times. I think Adrian and Evan Christopher are deserved of much more praise in terms of Jazz history.

Hello Adrian, could you propose a few sequences of 10 to 15 notes of blues on a partition to practice. I would love it. Thanks a lot. Patrick

Hi Patrick, I will definitely do another video and speak a bit more about something to practice

Man you got the sound...you got the feel. There ain't nothing like the blues. I'm really digging what you're playing . I've have worked with so many musicians who can run every scale, every mode. They know music theory out the wazoo...but the one thing they can't play is a blues, and also a tune. Playing music for them is an academic exercise. When I put my clarinet together or my baritone or tenor saxophone the first thing I warm up on is a blues, and I've been criticised by fellow players for doing that. So far this has been my favorite of your chats. Your playing is inspiring and moving. Will you be doing any U.S tours?

Barry, Thanks so much for this message, I am so pleased you feel the same. I think it’s so important, the blues, a blues, melody and space. I always find it amazing how people dismiss the blue or not learning melody…. I do come out to the states, I hope to be out later this year…. I played New York at Dizzy’s with my own band and previous to that I worked with Wynton Marsalis at the Lincoln’s Center (that was an honour) Where do you live ?

Thank you. You Sounded great on the Rossi. But you sound really Mellow on the Buffet. I have an old pair of Buffets which I keep going back to Lovely. Simple and expensive. “Bechetish” God bless you. Bill. UK

Hey Bill, The Rossi is wonderful but on a gigging situation, I had to do a lot of work to keep it up in tune ....I also travel so much so the bUffet is totally stable and I love the sound too. I started back on it yesterday so in a few days it will be back to exactly how I want it to sound :)

Old SELMER clarinet sound better. Radio Improved, Balencend Tone, Centered Tone, Serie 9,Serie 10,Serie 10S.... Buffet&crampon ok. But never like SELMER clarinets. No way.

I have 4 Selmer 9s all cracked, 4 Centered tones All cracked , one balanced tone Cracked , unfortunately the climate changes for the touring I do doesn’t cope

@@AdrianCoxMusic Yes, yes, these things unfortunately happen. Still, these clarinets sound terrible! It's a shame that SELMER doesn't produce this kind of drill anymore...
