It is amazing to see how good he was at EVERY facet of the game. Nowadays players get praised for being good at two things (“he can shoot AND defend!”), and certainly the league has had specialists throughout (Rodman, for instance), but there was a time where players were prepared to be good overall. Manu is a great example of that: he was the epitome of what a SG should be coming from an era when that position was supposed to be the jack-of-all-trades on a team. Couple with his tenacity and resolve, it usually goes unmentioned how versatile he was. Certainly his crazy plays (a shot or pass) get all the attention but it was just his overall game: precise passes (where a player WOULD be), little switches to get defenders off balance, the gambles yet considered timing of steals, the angles he would approach blocking to minimize the chance of fouls, his excellent ball handling, his read of plays and the court, etc. even smaller things like his spectacular use of speed variations within a single sequence to keep defenders guessing. How many players nowadays grab a ball and simply think they need to run fast no matter what? The bats, the crazy plays, and passes will be the most remembered, but for anyone wanting to play bball well they could not go wrong studying this guy in detail. (Edited for typos and clarity)

He lacked the strength mainly and athletism of the icons of this sport, but certainly he managed every skill of the game while being fierceless, unpredictable and intelligent as few, he could have been an incredible Point guard. He accepted to play with a great quote of restrain in minutes and many times without a primary role due to his coach ideas...so he will be sadly never be regarded as great as he really was and maybe will end kind of forgotten. I really think that at least a couple of seasons with kobe in the lakers would have made wonders to his name in relation to fame and appreciation, but hell it is what it is and how the world rolls.

I Saw this highlighs reel a lot of times, every time I get amazed by how good he was, and every time I elevate my vission of the game, my IQ. I from Argentina and I became a Basketball fan cause of him, I never played. By the time I learned a lot about the game, I cant imagine a life without the joy of basquetball. This year we have Campazzo, and watchout with Deck, he has a lot of magic, beatiful for us to have this players in the league. But Ginobili its something else, he is the withe jordan, and I think that he's maybe the better SG after MJ and Kobe, and then Wade. Of course you will never be playing that role on a Team, because he is a team player in a team oriented offense, also with TD, the greater PF of all time. Thats two could esaly destroy any defender, any team. Tony was special, but the magic was Manu and TD. Its no about the numbers, its about winning and spirit. So, te amo para siempre Manu, gracias infinitas!
