Telling fighters who bravely get up that they have to take a TKO is often an unpopular decision, but the worst cerebral damage is so often done after a boxer is too dazed to avoid and/or reduce the impact of a blow. If we love boxing we have to support ref's decisions to err on the side of caution to protect fighters.

17:55 as a big fan of sweet pea, this was a nightmare night. Context being it was a tune up for the Oscar super fight. In hindsight, Hurtado was a horrific choice for this. The typical Cuban specialist who beat Casamayor in amateurs after his 1992 gold medal at Cuban nats, PW was not focused on this and nearly paid the price as he was beaten pilar to post with another extra point removed for rabbit punching. Luckily he pulled it out of the fire and gah leee did he. The ref nearly caught a manslaughter case for christ sake with that stoppage.

@@geedee1264 I know all about that era Gd and have boxed and taught the sport myself but nobody cared terribly about the end results for boxers back then. CTE is now being detected in almost all Rugby League, Rugby Union players so I would suggest it is going to be clearly prevalent in boxers where the aim is generally to knock the opponent out. I think it will be a sport that is stopped in the future along with UFC and MMA unless they bring in some type of head shot protocol, legal action by the victims will cause this to occur.
