It was a shock how it happened. I remember watching it and thinking Froch was lucky the scoring was so close on the cards. Taylor was definitely the better boxer on the night so that ending was legendary. I 100% thought he was done going into the 12th.

In the Chávez Taylor fight I still can't believe how bad the commentators were saying how was possible the referee stooped the fight. C'mon the guy was still holding the ropes otherwise he'd fall again. It would have been a count of 10 holding the ropes, fight is over.

Ref did his job, Taylor was spaced out and Chavez could have ran in and done permanent life affecting damage with a couple of shots if it went on and in retrospect considering how punch drunk Taylor is now the ref was absolutely spot on.

I’m old enough to remember the Froch fight live. I mean that wasn’t unexpected at all. Taylor was unbeatable at that point in the early rounds. And Froch proved to be an iron man. While Taylor essentially sweeped the first 6, Froch sweeped the back half beating the hell out of Taylor the final few rounds especially. Much like a different Taylor fighting another legend in Chavez, he was getting battered and it felt like a matter of when not if.

That wasn't a KO and if your Dad was proud of that then he has a low bar for his fighters. The single most disgraceful call in boxing history. Taylor was on his feet responding to Steele's commands and dumbass steele stops it with a few seconds left in the fight. What did he think, that Chavez was going to just appear like Raden in Mortal Kombat on top of Taylor and rip his head off? There wasn't time for Chavez to make it from the neutral corner to even lay a single glove of Taylor. Bad call by a mediocre at best referee.

Taylor was getting pounded throughout the fight. Look at his face after the fight. It was reported that he was urinating pure blood at the hospital. And he was never the same after Chavez. If anyone is to blame for the stoppage it should be Lou Duva who jumped up onto the apron and distracted Taylor's attention to referee Steele as he was asking him if he was OK. Taylor did not respond because he was looking at Duva act like an idiot in the corner. Shit even Chavez knew he wasn't responding as you can see in the video Chavez raise his gloves before Steele even begins to wave off the fight.
