I’m officially sick of winter. Wanna get my ICE Sprint X motorized soon. It’s my impression you favor hub vs mid drive? 30 mph sounds like a blast. Actually 20 is. I’d like to see someone design heated grips. Seems doable. Videos make me want to ride. So does my trike every day when I pass by it in the garage. It says “Hey pops, let’s go!”
@UtahTrikesOnline4 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark, feels like winter is just starting with all that snow we just got! Hub vs middrive really depends on the trike and the type of riding. With batteries on your trike though heated grips and maybe even a heated seat could be possible. :)

do you recommend putting grease in between the electrical connections.
@UtahTrikesOnline4 жыл бұрын
Views are mixed on whether to use dielectric grease on connectors. We use mostly the XT90 connectors, which don't require it. If you will be pulling your connectors apart frequently it won't hurt and can make them easier to separate. The connections on the batteries can benefit from some dielectric grease and it can offer some additional weather protection. Again, feelings are mixed and results and opinions vary across ebike groups.

It would be helpful if you didn’t make the videos so choppy. You need to pan back a little bit and let the bike sell itself rather than point towards what you’re looking at then go back moving the camera abruptly to go over to the other side of the bike. It is hard to concentrate and I want a nice slow visual to get a chance to drool over the machine. When you go back-and-forth and cut here to there you can’t get a chance to even see the vehicle before it abruptly changes the scene shot.
@AaronPetterborg4 жыл бұрын
This makes me wonder if I ought to go with sending my CAD to a trike shop that does the fabrication (or one like Utah Trikes that works with them) instead of just asking a general machine shop to do all the bending/notching/welding for a mobility device (basically just an over-designed wheelchair) I'm putting together.

So the inevitable question. Can you estimate how long or how far a 1000 watt system will take you? I like what I see so far.
@UtahTrikesOnline4 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of variables, such as how much you use the motor vs pedal, the terrain you ride on, how aggressively you accelerate, speed you ride, rider weight, etc. A safe estimate is typically 10-20 miles per battery with no pedaling. Using pedal assist modes you can get 4X that range.
@msryder92654 жыл бұрын
Did you add a PAS sensor? On my catrike adventure I am monting a bafang 500w hub motor and trying to figure out how to mount the pas, since the pas they sent is designed to go on chainring side, but the lowest gear on triple crank will not allow it to fit.
@UtahTrikesOnline4 жыл бұрын
Yes, although we forgot to mention it in the video. We actually make a custom pedal assist sensor for our motor that attaches to the idler. That way it allows us to use any crankset we want including Schlumpf or Pinion gearing.
