That’s the 1st primus cylinder I’ve ever seen picked, I can bump them with no issue as long as I have the correct blank, you sir are a stud. I’ll be trying this on Monday when i get to the shop.

Excellent tip on the finger pin lift height and great video overall.

Really well made video. I didn't know Primus side pins were bi-axel. Thanks.

The flex in that last fingerpin movement, lol... nice work as always :)

Primus are not as easy and quick as you make it out to be lol. Plus the mine I use has a variety of security pins and matching threading added to it

I have three of these, all without keys. Two are KIKs and one is an LFIC. Both of the KIKs are very dirty but the LFIC isn't to bad. Have you ever picked the LFIC version? I would really like to get all 3 of them picked so I can gut them to give em a thorough cleaning. I don't think I have that pick you called a finger pick. I do have the LAB brand set of picks that has one for manipulating Medeco pins. Im fairly precise with half Diamonds. If I had to I can take a 0.020" feeler gauge and turn it into on of those finger picks. I've just made so much stuff that it gets old sitting down for hours with the Dremel. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm trying to think if my bosses Key Duplicator could cut a Primus blank. I'd love to change out my Schlage entry deadbolt with one of the Primus KIKs

Great video and picking?👍🏻 I have Single Cylinder 5 pin Schlage Deadbolts in my home where I added a anti-bump pin in each one. I like the 6 pin Primus core and was wondering are they interchangeable.

The Primus is a six pin cylinder, if your deadbolt will accept the length you can upgrade to Primus with the correct tailpiece.

Are you detecting the finger pin direction without lifting (possible?), OR rather you must be just setting to the known direction? I also notice yours is UL rated with drill protection.

I am in fact detecting the finger pin direction without lifting -- while I know the rotations for this lock, it is fairly straightforward to detect them without prior knowledge, as the size and shape of the gates on the finger pins allow them to interact with the sidebar before being lifted. The pins bind under tension and will snap into place as they set to the correct direction, accompanied by a subtle core rotation. Once rotated to the proper direction, the left/right pins can be jiggle-tested to confirm the direction is set, and the center pins will be bound solidly and resist further rotation. Inserting the pick flat raises them up far enough to allow the sidebar to drop in fully, but the directions are already set -- otherwise the motion of inserting the pick would have a tendency to rotate the pins towards the back of the lock as it lifted them.

@@legendofthesamurai OK, excellent answer to my question -- I guess with the Primus finger pins there is enough interaction with the sidebar to allow you to feel the pin rotation angle without lifting. I wonder if the shallow pins (or the extra shallow XP pin) rotation angle can be felt without any lifting? (as your lock only had deep finger pins).

@@Pyrolock The rotational direction for shallow and extra shallow pins cannot be felt or set without lifting them, though this fact can help in identifying them, and they can often be dealt with after using this trick to set the deep pins.
