Owned a Baratza Virtuoso 586 for 7 years...great grinder and customer support. Ordered the Ode to step up the coffee habit.😎

Ordered Ode Gen 1 for $159 (sale on Amazon today). My first “good” grinder! I’m excited! I’ve actually been using one of those $30 Mr. Coffee burr grinders identical to the one in your video, lol. I’ve had two of them! The Mr. Coffee is decent, as you say, but produces a lot of fines, which I think muddies the flavor and makes it harsher tasting than it should be.

I can cast a vote for Ode, as I've owned mine since it first became available. Maintenance can be a little finicky sometimes, but the results have been outstanding. In hindsight, $300 wasn't much to spend considering how much coffee I brew. It seemed like a big investment initially but has been completely worth the price.

It really is a great grinder for the price!

I loved everything about this video! The humor, the information, and how you delivered all of it. Nice laid back way to geek-out and have some fun. Big Fan

So in theory you could classify the grounds in a strainer and put the biggest under hot water first, then the mediums, then the finest and the extraction should be even? Still there’s ideal ground size for various types of brewing. I make cold brew. I like it to be 3/4 medium roast and 1/4 dark. I start the steeping of the medium 16 hours before straining and four hours later I add the dark grounds so they brew for 12. Anyway, I recently saw a nifty set of cards that can be used to sort grain sizes. I’m wondering if it’s worth using that instead of getting an insanely expensive grinder.

Really enjoy the video! Like the potato part, great example. I think $3,000 ginder is overspend for home use, it's better for the coffeee shop .

If you wanna spend 3000 there are better home options than the EK43 though.

Great review and comparison also, BTW. I appreciate your style - more of a “regular dude who likes coffee”. You may be a connoisseur, but you don’t come off that way. Are you from the Chicago area by chance? Liked and subscribed.

I have the $700 Eureka Mignon Specialita for espresso. I still want that EK43, although I have aspirations of starting a coffee cart.

Nice! The Eureka is a great grinder.

What’s your opinion on a gods $300 grinder for espresso and pour over?
@HomeGroundsCoffee2 жыл бұрын
It’ll be difficult to find a grinder that can do both well for that price. The Baratza Sette is probably the cheapest I’d recommend going for an all-in-one grinder though!

The potato analogy is genius. I do think an Ode is my speed. Or maybe something slightly higher quality like a DF64
@HomeGroundsCoffee2 жыл бұрын
Highly recommend the ode! I don’t have any personal experience with a DF64 yet, but it definitely looks like a nice option as well.

I think the large grinder was a waste of time to show; there are other grinders I would have liked to have seen and gotten you option on.
@HomeGroundsCoffee2 жыл бұрын
For sure! We’ll definitely feature other grinders in the future, I just had access to an EK43 so figured I’d show it.

I'd never trust someone who reviews coffee if they didn't have tattoos, Lars. What a dumb thing to say, Lars. Last I checked, at least men still have control over what happens to their body, Lars. Keep up the good work Steve, Lars will be Karen.
