It is so refreshing to hear about people who suffer depression and rescue horses in a positive manner. I wonder if there are a lot of us women with Aspergers that fall into depression at a very young age because we are not diagnosed. It gets missed and we are different. We get bullied and ostracized. We changed who we are to try and fit. Hence why so we can so totally relate to abused horses. God bless you both for your compassion and understanding.

Hi Jennifer How are you? I live in Ontario Canada and i was born in the UK, I have been watching this channel for a while now and i am so amazed every time when i see how quickly Steve turns horses around I love watching it because it is mesmerizing, I grew up in a time when beating a horse severely was the way of doing things but i knew there was a better way of asking a horse to do what you asked. I had only heard and i have seen things like that happening and it is heart wrenching. To be a trainer must be amazing. where are you located in Ontario? I live closer to Ottawa. May be we can get together sometime and have a chat. I have owned two horses least one and exercised another over the years but when growing up some of my friends had horses too. I would love to chat sometime. Horses have been my passion since i first saw one at the age of 3-4 years old and every birthday and every Christmas i aske for nothing else but for a horse or pony. young girls favourite thing to ask for right? Anyways if you would like to get together that would be awesome, I have hit a hurdle that i need to get over. My last horse and i were attacked by some ground wasps after we stepped on the nest and my horse got very spooked by this and i ended up coming off. and a friend had to go after my horse and bring him back. then he bolted again a few weeks later and got me off by bolting straight for a tree i would love to know how to get my confidence back in this situation. I no longer own this horse but i have known and ridden this horse for 5 years, without any problems. I wish i had seen Steve's videos before i sold my horse back to his previous owner who was going to send him away to be retrained, But my friend didn't hear back from her. I have a crop because someone told me to get one and just the sight of it made him worse so i threw that on the ground. so i was at a loss on what to do. i am an experienced rider but i had a long gap before getting back in the saddle. If you can give me some advice even because i miss being in the saddle. Thanks so much God bless.

@@tracyjohnson2992 The only thing I can suggest to get YOUR confidence back, is to do a lot of ground work first. This builds in that TRUST factor between you and the horse again. I am really happy you've put the series of Pearl and Rhianna and Kenny. It has been my goal to share my private horses with anyone and everyone who needs a horse in their life for any reason. I have been a trainer of people with their horses for over 45 years. Due to a recent medical event where I actually died in the helicopter on my way to a bigger hospital! The goal is had after waking from a coma for a week and having emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder and entire spleen, was to recove=as quick as I possibly could to come home to my 5 horses! They as well as my 6 dogs where well cared for while I was away. I had brain damage from being a full code no signs of life at all. I have known all my life how special horses are to me and my life. I didn't realize just how much until I thought I might not make it all the way back to continue with them. They were my guiding force for my recovery, period. I still was not able to walk very well after a month in hospital. I finally had enough. I started to eat and they took out my feeding tube next it was on to walking. It took no time at all for me to build my strength up to be able to go home. I begged them to let me leave. There were still tests they wanted to do but I said no. I wanted to let my body heal and get back home to continue. I was finally able to go see my horses as they didn't live with me at the time, after a couple weeks working every day to get stronger. The day I was finally able to go see them, my Dr's. Told my friend that I absolutely could not get out of the truck. I did not but they all came over one at a time to greet me. It wasn't long before I could ditch the walker and use a cane. Then it was off to finally be amongst them on the ground. I've had most of them from birth. My stallion, big reg Paint about 16hh came over first and pushed the others out of the way so he could visit with me alone. Then he let my oldest and lead mare come. Then as if having the sense to be ever so careful one by one they had their turn. They were ever so careful wulith each other not crowding nor getting upset. It's been 2 yrs in Dec. I was 127lbs out of the hospital. Now I'm a string 160 and back to riding and getting my 4yr old ready for her first ride. Because of my journey I have invited many people to just come and hang out with them if they don't want to get on. I've even started to give lessons to ADHD, autistic and really anyone with any issues. PTSD folks back from overseas out of the military the option to find out personally just how special horses are and their amazing way of healing the mind and body to follow! I don't charge anything and at most I'll do a trade for help around the place I now share with the horses. It goes without saying the dogs are also such a big help and everyday it's bright and sunny because we're together again!! Thank you for your videos. I have trained in a very simular way as you do with a few exceptions. I don't use bits on my personal horses ever. I don't need to. No whips or spurs ever as well. Now I do use a stick simular to yours but the same way you do. Thank you to you and your family for all you do to make this big world a safer and happier place for horses and their people!!!

Cannot stop watching your videos and await them eagerly! Learning so much. Re parrot, I have a 30 plus African Grey that I've had from 10 months old. Always clipped 1 wing using a specific technic to catch him as he is as wild as yours. A few years ago I hadn't done it early enough and he flew away. Having contacted all vets in the area, 3 days later I was contacted by a lady, through the vet, that she had found him sitting on a fence between 2 pigeons! She was 5 miles away! I wasn't sure it was him until I said 'choc chocolate' and he repeated it as he always said that! What a relief. I make sure I clip 1 wing twice a year. And there is a technique where you won't get bitten. Then he can stay outside and catch the sunshine. By the way, parrots like to be higher than you, so you need to be higher than them. From High Wycombe

The African Grey parrot sitting on his cage looks just like the one we had. He only spent his nights in his cage covered by a made to fit canvas cover. At whatever time suited him in the morning he would knock on his perch signifying it was now time for his cage to be opened. He "spoke" in French, Fleming, English, Afrikaans and Swahili, he also sang in French with a warble in his voice when he hit the high notes. When listening to light music he danced on his perch. He coughed, sneezed, barked, whistled, cleared his throat and spat and loved to Wolf-whistle for young ladies. When he spoke or called it sounded exactly like the person's voice from whom he had learnt the word, or sentence. He came from the jungle area close to Elizabethville in the Belgian Congo as a chick and spent the first 10 years of his life there, then in South Africa for the next 35 years, until his untimely death due to cancer in his airway. We were extremely traumatised by his death. 45 years of knowing him was a long time. 😢😢

You can really tell that loud clicking noises do frighten her, but when Steve and Dan just kept on with what they were doing and didn't make a fuss, she started to understand that the noises around her didn't necessarily mean that she was in danger. Watching her take to Dan was really wonderful to see as well. It's very encouraging to watch her change and understand that new experiences are not necessarily threatening. OMGosh quite an eventful emotion filled day for all. That bad Max little bugger. We had budgies growing up and only one of them talked. Its great how Pearl and Rhiannon and Kenny are doing I think Pearl is over the worst of the terror she has lived with for so long and she can spend the rest of her years living in peace and harmony with her loving family. She deserves it they all do. Rhiannon is an inspiration to people like me who has lived with mental health issues for most of their life. I had to go to see a Psychiatrist when i was about 11 too, I would fall asleep for no reason and sleep quite soundly, i was very withdrawn very quiet and timid. I was also very scared of everything. I have suffered depression and even attempted suicide over the years. To see how many people suffer with the same things as there is in mental health and the help she has given to those like her, like me i think she is showing just how many people really are suffering from mental health issues. I still to this day cannot go out to crowded venues or to even go shopping to a store around special occasions is still very stressful for me so i have gotten into the habit of shopping throughout the year for Christmas gift but i prefer to shop with amazon and places that deliver to your door. My hubby shops for groceries i cannot do it anymore. I did feel much better after my hubby and i got together and i was fine getting married with friends and family concerts and the like but something happened in my workplace that changed everything. i was bullied by one member of the staff who i had to work closely with for a while, it didn't just happen once or twice but more times and even after reporting it tp the bosses no one did anything. this was a person who had caused others to leave the company on numerous occasions which i came to finding out later. they had gone through four other admin assistants over a period of a year because of this one employee. The bosses said he has a bit of an explosive personality which i guess this was the reason they kept him on. it also made me very sick i almost died because of what happened to me as a kid in junior school that had opened up many old wounds that i thought were healed i moved to Canada in 1990 just after getting married i though i would never have the fear of meeting all the bullies that picked on me while i was out shopping again that i will never have to go through that fear again until this employee opened up my whole world again. It crippled me i couldn't go out i couldn't spend time with friends and other family on my husbands side and every time i went back to the UK for a visit. I get depressed very quickly and it is crippling it takes your achievements you have made and turns it on its head. So Rhiannon thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming forward and showing the world there is nothing to fear from people with mental health issues and we are not contagious if you say hi in the street, and we are not alone in our suffering. God bless you God bless you too Steve and Tania You and your family have a special gift in teaching home owners to ask for help not every horse owner or trainer knows everything into why horses do what they do but they most often can work through them with the Technics you have learned from other like minded people how to treat horses and not beat them into submission which was the way of doing things and its no shame asking for another persons take on how to best deal with a problem. Sometimes it is previous owner disaster or neglect or abuse and other time its just a scared horse who doesn't understand the answer to the question your asking of it. We don't speak the same language so we have to wait till the horse works things out for itself without the pressure and anger that follows them not getting it. Horses as stunningly beautiful creatures we train other animals so why is it so hard to train a horse, well its not hard it is very easy if you wait for the horse to get the right answer even if it take an hour per day but always leave on a good note for that's the part where they remember for the next time. God bless you all

Even though I could see Max was back in his cage while you were narrating the story, my heart was in my mouth watching your attempts to recover him. So very lucky you were able to get that parrot back in his cage. Clearly, you and Tania are above and beyond animal lovers and horses (and people) around the world are benefitting from your kind generosity. Never a dull moment with you two, is there. HOLY COW; or should that be HOLY HORSE -- lol.

Ot was so cool to see how she just wanted to be close to Dan. Pearl followed him when he walked away while trimming. To see her have so much trust in him melted my heart ❤️

After Steve's fast and intensive work, Pearl did so good with Dan. So happy that you captured Max. I'm sad to see Duke/Mouse gone. Your grand daughters are very beautiful and I love their smiles. Thank you for the video. It was exciting because of the Maxie fiasco, informative because of Pearl and heart warming because of those lovely grand daughters.

WOW! Alot packed into this video! Pearl letting Dan trim ner feet was amazing. Dan is so patient. Duke/Mouse going back where he came from - she looked so happy to have him back. And the Max Escape - we were on the edge of our seats! This is more than just horse training. Love it! ❤

Interesting. Dogs are predators, so it's a different scenario, our relationship with them. They do also have a language though, "the pack" . So it sounds like you just took leadership of your pack animal. So, he's responding because he's thinking, hey! She's the pack leader! That make sense? So awesome it got you thinking, communicating better with your dog! Well done! You.

This is the reason THE reason my DREAM is to start a therapeutic riding program for people who suffer from mental illness like myself. I am 50. Thanks to a small community of horse people like yourselves, I am going to give it hell! I have always been comforted by horses, as all equine lovers do! Prayers for her and the horses she's got. Prayers for my program idea as well!

Wow! This is a totally amazing and captivating video. Pearl looking the picture of health in Rhiannon Morris and Kene Ken's tender care. I was so happy that between Steve Young and Dan the Farrier they were able to attend to her feet. I was as always in tears! Then oh my goodness, the moment you had to say happy trails to The Duke (aka Mouse) was another moment that I lost it...☹️ On the subject of Max the Parrot? Well they say things come in threes don't they? Yup, the waterworks started dripping again!🤣 I'm not sure how this movie could ever be bettered, but watching this space‼️❤️

Man what a rollercoaster ride!! Pearl, Duke/Mouse and the parrot?? If you hadn't have recorded the entire thing it would be hard to believe that was all in one day! Dan the farrier is as amazing as Steve! Good men. And not bad looking. Front or back! ☺️😉 Hey, I maybe 62 years old, but I'm not not dead! Cheers to you all! Great work.

OMG The Never-Ending Day... Exhausting, but thank heavens you carolled Max back to safety! What gorgeous eyes little Evie has! Another great video, unbelievable poor Pearl hasn't had her feet trimmed in all her life, doesn't seem possible - but you'd never think she was that old - I reckon she's got a ton of living yet to do. Happy trails & keep safe, sad to see The Duke go, but glad he's going home - another great part of the world! Cheers!

Oh my goodness! What a wonderful video! So good to see Pearl! She looks absolutely wonderful. I think you're right Steve. Now she knows she can survive having her hooves touched, held, trimmed... massive breakthrough for her! And for all caring for her. So excited to hear or see the progress. Dan is absolutely amazing. What a gifted feel he has. He was perfect for Pearl. Just what she needed. Well done!!! What a collaboration. Happy story for Mouse ... the horse formerly known as The Duke. 😄 🤣 awesome ending with Max . Big sigh of relief! Love from New Jersey USA. THANKS!

Thank you for this video. I also have had major depression all my life. Have PTSD now. Dogs, Cows, and horses among others have kept me functioning. Now, I'm a senior and have no pets. So I love seeing these videos and relate to Pearl's story and others. Your training is like therapy for me.🙃 ...

Ahhhhh Tanya hun, mine bit me right bad palm of my hand, i was really surprised that you were able to handle him so quickly after having him back. It's been a year since my bad bite and i've not been at all brave enough to get back that confidence.

So good to see Pearl fall in love with Dan. You guys rock smoothing out her nervous system with your calm patience. And Max coming home. Wow. Whatta miracle. We tried to keep our parrots flight feather’s trimmed. Times change, we probably wouldn’t be into captive birds again either but once you make a commitment it’s so good to see you guys follow through with Max. What a character barking in the trees. Love you guyz…..Linda on Maui

You do such great work! Your compassion and patience and knowledge are all WAY UP THERE. Really enjoy your videos. I have always wanted a 🐎 horse. Wonderful, wonderful animals. But instead I have dogs - working and pets. Search and rescue and personal protection. I train them myself, except for the protection work. 😄😜🐾🇺🇸🐕🦺🦮

Wow what a lot of content in this video. I have to say I was amused at Pearl wanting to follow Dan around, he definitely has a calm way with horses. I noticed in other videos how horses look at him like he is their best friend. You all did a great job, Tanya I know was filming the backs of you but she got some great footage of Dan clipping Pearls Hooves. As for Max well I can’t believe you got him back, I would of been like Tanya and stressing all night. So pleased he stayed in the area so you could capture him, rescuing him from certain death had he not been captured. Hope you enjoy your break and definitely relax x 🌻🐝🌻🐝💛

You might check out the BirdTricks videos on KZbin to get some ideas to get your bird Max back if he gets out again. Parrots often will survive for a week or longer outside, if it's not too cold at night. It was so wonderful to see how Pearl is thriving!
