to reduce your reliance on long blocks try not to make any 1x3 vertial holes in your structure as it is the only piece that can fit there. its ok to leave one "well" which is just an unoccupied column usually on the far left or right or center if you wish for the tetrises

Alright egg daddy some tetris tips for you: -always try to leave a 1 block wide "well" on the rightmost column, this is the most reliable way to maintain a good playfield - until you make a tetris, try to never close up your "tetris well" on the rightmost column, try to build a steady slope down from left to right. - a long bar is the only way to tetris so until we get to t-spins, always try to hold a long piece - try to minimize your line dependancy, when smacking down pieces try to see if it'll create a line hole other than your tetris well, and play accordingly Keep the vids up eggman I'm lovin it

Reducing your reliance on long blocks: Always try to form a well (open collum) on one of the borders. Use of L-blocks: Do not place them with the openings facing the borders, because then the only available pieces to place perfectly are the same color L-block or the long block.

As someone who fancies themselves decent at tetris, there is no way to not rely on line pieces, the idea is to constantly be building for the next one or to accommodate a "drought" I would look into 1 - 2 wide well basic strategies. It may feel sweaty but If you ever wanna break into top 10 consistently you gotta be able to build and kill a tetris at 10 or 11 speed.

How to reduce dependence on I pieces: 2 wide chain attacks: easy, but kinda weak. Just build like you normally do, but leave two columns open instead of one. Then every possible piece you put in that gap will clear something if the rest of the stack is clean. Build it close to the top, put a piece over the hole when you're ready to clear, pick a target with left stick, then start dropping pieces in there back to back to manually KO someone. 4 wide chain attacks : Harder to execute because piece placements to actually clear need to be planned out based on Next Pieces and Hold, but faster to build. T-Spins: More powerful than a Tetris but learning to do these is intensely counter-intuitive, and often requires cleaning up loose blocks afterwards. "DT Cannon" Opener: It's possible to memorize this setup in about 2-3 hours of practice by trying to recreate it based on the diagrams at Hard Drop, and it can guarantee 3 T-spins and occasionally a Perfect Clear. And that's even if you struggle to see T-spin opportunities after your opening plays.

Actionable feedback: if you end up saving a bad block in a panic because it fits nowhere (square, s block, z block), but then you manage to recover, use the moment of lower pressure to place down the bad block you had saved previously. Simply replace it with the first decent block you see while you're not under attack (line blocks are best, but L-blocks are a pretty safe block to save as well). Else, you risk a terrible situation like that time you had a square saved and another square coming down.

In answer to the "rely on line pieces less" thing others mention(Warning: wall of textriminos ahead): -From what I've seen(and I do play a bit of tetris for reference; not T99, but other kinds), there tends to be an interplay of what one can call a 'inboxer/outboxer' type of junk. Here, it's Tetrises and Rallies. The former is obvious: set up block stacks and use the line piece to send massive waves at once. Rallies work differently, and they're a relatively new multiplayer tactic: clearing lines rapid-fire(rather, one block clears one line repeatedly). Tetris junk is beefy and intimidating but can be repelled by Rallies, and while Rally junk looks piddly in comparison, it's harder to wipe since it comes from separate attacks. -By this knowledge, how I interpret the 'advice'(and I agree, it's vague and unhelpful simply because it does not define a behavior) is that you rely on Tetris junk more than Rally junk, to the point that you seem to get overwhelmed in the search for the almighty line piece. But by the same coin, Rallies are harder to set up(well, Rallies larger than four) than Tetrises and overreliance on them causes you to be overwhelmed not by junk but your own pieces. It's a fine balance of hard rushes versus stress testing~

One of the best strats in Tetris is keeping columns of 2, 3, or even 4 open while building up. Then when it gets too much or if you think it'd better to start clearing lines you can start comboing lines. I suggest doing 2 columns open to start, maybe 3 if you feel like that'll be better. Always aim to keep your pieces to make flat lines while building up for now. Eventually you'll want to learn how to setup t-spins, but to win one game you won't need them. Lastly, try to fill in the holes with the corresponding piece, even if it means having to leave that hole unfilled for a while, seems kind dumb, but it works when you're going fast since it doesn't let you make holes in your building.

You have to minimize the possibility of ending up in a situation when you need one particular piece These are the things that works for me: -Don't create spaces where you can only put a long 4 blocks "I" shaped piece. In order to do so I usually put those pieces horizontally. For example, at 7:17 you create a spot you can fill only with the "I" piece. Even if you have one stored, wait until you have to create a situation when you have to use it. Also, If you put pieces vertically you will end up having to put other pieces vertically and it will be difficult to manage - always try not to have a completely plane field or you are going to create holes if you have to place a z or s piece. - still, try to have at least 2 plane blocks so you can put a square if you have to. -most importantly, you have to calculate how the game will change once the complete files are eliminated. This way for example, if you have a 4 blocks long hole you may choose to fill it with an "L" block instead of waiting for an "I", in case you notice that after the complete files are eliminated the situation is still manageable.
@TonyTheTGR5 жыл бұрын
ACTIONABLE FEEDBACK: With S, Z, and T-blocks; don't be afraid to cover a garbage hole in ways that result in single or double-clears, or flip an L-block in a non-triple way, and then clear the single that sticks over the hole. You can also leave one block to the side of the garbage hole, and then T-Spin into it to clear that out and keep your structure intact.
@Level80Sorcerer5 жыл бұрын
16:39 You should have used both J pieces to clear 2 lines horizontally (particularly putting the square down, then the J piece with the short end down) In fact, you could throw all those piece you were stacking to start a combo (consecutive clears). Garbage doesn't trigger if you keep clearing lines. If you clear enough lines, you cancel the attack. Combos generate a LOT of defense or garbage too.

Ok, real tip NL. Want to rely less on 1 by 4 tetrominoes (lines)? Stop constantly building your stacks with single spaces open so that the 1x4 ends up being the only piece that fits. That's why you're so reliant on them. It also means getting less big combos, but it'll also keep you in the game longer just rapid fire sending lines out instead of letting your screen get cluttered. know you can't really see it while you're playing and paying attention to your own board and talking, but the people who end up in the top tend to keep their spaces free. Being a literal god isn't easy of course, but you can get pretty close with training.

Yo egg, some quick tips to help you get better without changing the way you play: try to keep either the left or right most column completely clean when you are placing blocks. that way you can play around the long boys without messing yourself up too much. also when you only use one column for long boys that cuts your placement room down to a 9 square area and that will help with the holes you have allover the place because most of the blocks in tetris are 3x2 with only one block being 1x4 (long boys) and one block being 2x2 (square boys).

Heya Ryan, if yer looking for feedback from yer viewers.. I noted that your most common mistakes are by using the L and reverse L blocks. You tend to use them like straight blocks to clear a few lines but it also creates a single line below them that remains uncleared due to the hole being too deep and becomes unreachable until you clear more lines higher up. So maybe try to fit the L-blocks elsewhere?

Alright NL! I loove your stuff. You want some feedback, here's what I'd love to see you try: You're doing well enough, but instead of relying on long ones, maybe try a 2 or 3 wide well. You'll have chances for tetris from garbage, but th 2-4 wide wells rely on combos. And you wanna know why combos are going to save you? You see the bar to the left of the game area? That shows you how much trash is gonna be coming your way. If you clear blocks, instead of attacking your enemies, you attack that trash bar. If your screen flashes red, it means the trash is in danger of KOing you. Build your board so you have a 2-wide hole, and then when it fills, or you're under heavy attack, just start dropping pieces down it to clear lines, over and over. As you build the combo higher, you'll throw more and more pieces at your foes. 2-3 wide holes are recommended, 4-wide is really advanced, but possible! it needs a bit more set-up, but is theoretically safer. Advanced versions of these strats has the hole positioned in the middle. Building becomes harder because you're building pillars on either side, but this will allow you to live longer when you're under attack. You KO when you can't place a block, blocks come down from the middle! T-spins are fancy, but I don't personally have the brainpower for them. There's some really simple set-ups you can do, but it's beyond this simple feedback post of mine! ALSO! If you're under attack by 3 or more people, target attackers! 100%! You get a huge bonus to the ammount of trash you send if you have multiple attackers, which includes the defensive trash removal! 2 is up to you if you really wanna get them to buzz off, but you wouldn't leave someone gunning for you alive in fortnite while he had a bead on you, right? :p
